James was ordered "bound out" by the Amelia County Courthouse on Sept 27, 1798. James Chumley married Martha Adams on October 16, 1809 in Prince Edward County, VA. He later married Lucretia Pulley on December 18, 1818 in Lunenburg County, VA. He lived in Prince Edward County then Lunenburg County, VA. He moved to Maury County, TN around 1837.
