- Joseph (Chumley) Chumney . On November 26, 1796, Joseph witnessed a land sale in Laurens County, SC (see Deed Book "F" by Nash, pg 143). Joseph had jury duty in Davidson County, TN in 1807 and 1811 and was listed in the Davidson County, TN militia. Joseph volunteered for 1 year to go as a farrier under John Coffee on the "Natchez Expedition" led by Andrew Jackson. Joseph bought 75 acres in Williamson and Maury Counties, TN on October 17, 1819 and sold them on Sept 27, 1823. Joseph's first wife died about 1835-1836. Joseph married Isabella on July 28, 1836. Joseph moved to Maury County, TN and then to Henry County, TN. (This research data comes from Marjorie Chumbley Clark, the daughter of Grover Chumbley, the son of Byrd Jr Chumbley in a postal letter dated January 25, 2012. - James (Chumley) Chumney . James Chumley / Chumbley is the son of John Chumley and Elizabeth Dickens who married in Amelia County, VA in 1783. James was ordered "bound out" by the Amelia County Courthouse on Sept 27, 1798. He lived in Prince Edward County, VA then in Lunenburg County, VA. Around 1837, he moved to Maury County, TN. He first married Martha Adams, 16-OCT-1809, in Prince Edward County, VA. He later married Lucretia Pully on December 18, 1818, in Lunenburg, County, VA.

In the Prince Edward County, VA Will book dated, 25-April-1815, written by Palethiel Adams, John and James are mentioned as brothers whose father in John Chumley / Chumbley. He married Prudence Rutledge on November 19, 1821 in Prince Edward County, VA. He moved from Prince Edward County to Lunenburg County, VA.
