ISAIAH AND THE TEN LOST TRIBES
BRIT-AM is an ORTHODOX JEWISH Organization

#2) Do Orthodox Jews believe in Christian British Israelism? NO
"Brit-Am Israel". (Brit = Covenant, Am = People in Hebrew)
"Brit-Am Israel" at present is headed by Yair Davidy and by Rabbi
Abraham Feld.
The address of "Brit-Am Israel" is Yair Davidy,

The e-mail is : britam@netvision.net.il
"BRIT-AM ISRAEL" BELIEVES:
* The Hebrew Bible is the message of God.
* Out of the original 12 Tribes of Israel Ten were lost. Two remained. The present-day Jews are descended mainly from the two remaining Tribes of Judah and Benjamin.
* The Khazars were a Kingdom in southern Russia many of whose leaders converted to Judaism. The Khazars were descended from the Lost Ten Tribes. The Khazars were blood-relatives of the Picts who went to Scotland, and of the Anglo-Saxons, and of peoples in Scandinavia.
* In addition to the Khazars, many other converts to Judaism through the ages were descended from assimilated Jews or from members of the Lost Ten Tribes.
* Most of the Lost Ten Tribes migrated to Northwest and Western Europe and their descendants are now in those areas or in North America, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.
* We do not claim that all residents of the said nations are descended from Israel. We do however affirm that most descendants of the Lost Ten Tribes are residents of those nations. On the whole
they are unaware of their Israelite Identity. Even so in the course
of history the Israelite origins of peoples in those areas have
influenced national developments and national characteristics.
* The Tribe of Joseph was divided into two other Tribes: Ephraim and Menasseh. People from ALL of the Israelite Tribes congregated in North America but in general the U.S.A. is dominated by Menasseh. Britain has characteristics of Ephraim.
* Reuben was important in France, Issachar in Switzerland, Benjamin in Belgium, Zebulon in Holland, Dan in Denmark, Naphtali in Norway, Gad in Sweden, the country of Finland was influenced by the Tribes of Simeon, Issachar, and Gad; Simeon, Dan, and Ephraim were important in Ireland.
* There is a need for the present-day "Jews" of Judah and the Lost Ten Tribes to recognize each other, and to work towards re-unification and reconciliation.
* Proof exists confirming "Brit-Am Israel" Identity beliefs.
Some of the evidence has been presented in works by Yair Davidy such as "The Tribes" (1993), "Ephraim" (1995), and "Lost Israelite
Identity" (1996), as well as in articles in our journal "Tribesman". Much additional evidence is available and needs to be uncovered and published. Our sources include the Bible, Talmud, Midrashim, Commentators, Classical Greek and Roman historians, Chroniclers, Legends, Linguistics, Archaeology, and where pertinent racial and other scientific studies.
* Even though much of the evidence has been revealed by ourselves it
is not ours alone. Our proofs have never been properly refuted. The
basic claims we have made are irrefutable. If one cannot deny our
claims and there is nobody else who can it follows that one should
accept them. This means that the identity of the Lost Ten Tribes of
Israel with western peoples should be acknowledged. Once this
acknowledgment is forthcoming it is possible to discuss whatever
practical conclusions need to be made.

NOTE FROM EDDIE:
FYI: Yair Davidy is an ORTHODOX JEW. He does NOT believe in:
#1) Replacement theology
#2) Christian British Israelism
Yair Davidy / Brit-Am / Orthodox Jews DO believe in:
#1) The Restoration of BOTH houses of Israel in the future (the
Messianic redemption or the Ingathering of the Exiles) (Ezekiel
37:15-28) when the house of Israel (The Ten Lost Tribes) join
themselves to / with the house of Judah in the end of days.
Recently, I ordered from Brit-Am and read the first three issues of
the MAGAZINE BRIT-AM. The articles and the information in the magazine
was OUTSTANDING.
It is VITAL in these days in which we live to understand that the
belief in the restoration of both houses of Israel / Messianic
Redemption / Ingathering of the Exiles and the reuniting of Ephraim
(Ten Lost Tribes) with Judah and Ephraim returning to Torah is a
fundamental and foundational belief of Orthodox Judaism. It is one of
the 13 articles of Jewish faith and a prayer for the Messianic
Redemption / Restoration of both houses of Israel is prayed THREE
times a day by Orthodox Jews.
I would HIGHLY recommend that our newsgroup members subscribe to the
Brit-Am magazine to gain a greater understanding of Orthodox Jewish
belief regarding this issue. In a recent edition of the magazine,
Brit-Am stated that they have come to the conclusion that the primary
religion of the Ten Lost Tribes today is Christianity.
Brit-Am declares that this information is VITAL to your
understanding of the Bible and Hebraic Heritage Ministries Int'l
agrees. Please consider obtaining the first 3 issues of the Brit-Am
magazine and subscribing to future editions.
Yours for the restoration of both houses of Israel,
Eddie Chumney

VaYechi
This week's portion is named after the expression translated as "lived" in
the first verse.
s.1
[GEN 47:28] AND JACOB LIVED IN THE LAND OF EGYPT SEVENTEEN YEARS: SO THE
WHOLE AGE OF JACOB WAS AN HUNDRED FORTY AND SEVEN YEARS.
[GEN 47:29] AND THE TIME DREW NIGH THAT ISRAEL MUST DIE: AND HE CALLED HIS
SON JOSEPH, AND SAID UNTO HIM, IF NOW I HAVE FOUND GRACE IN THY SIGHT, PUT,
I PRAY THEE, THY HAND UNDER MY THIGH, AND DEAL KINDLY AND TRULY WITH ME;
BURY ME NOT, I PRAY THEE, IN EGYPT:
His seed was destined to inherit the Holy Land and he wished to at least be
buried there.
[GEN 47:30] BUT I WILL LIE WITH MY FATHERS, AND THOU SHALT CARRY ME OUT OF
EGYPT, AND BURY ME IN THEIR BURYINGPLACE. AND HE SAID, I WILL DO AS THOU
HAST SAID.
[GEN 47:31] AND HE SAID, SWEAR UNTO ME. AND HE SWARE UNTO HIM. AND ISRAEL
BOWED HIMSELF UPON THE BED'S HEAD.
[GEN 48:1] AND IT CAME TO PASS AFTER THESE THINGS, THAT ONE TOLD JOSEPH,
BEHOLD, THY FATHER IS SICK: AND HE TOOK WITH HIM HIS TWO SONS, MANASSEH AND
EPHRAIM.
[GEN 48:2] AND ONE TOLD JACOB, AND SAID, BEHOLD, THY SON JOSEPH COMETH UNTO
THEE: AND ISRAEL STRENGTHENED HIMSELF, AND SAT UPON THE
BED.
[GEN 48:3] AND JACOB SAID UNTO JOSEPH, GOD ALMIGHTY APPEARED UNTO ME AT LUZ
IN THE LAND OF CANAAN, AND BLESSED ME,
[GEN 48:4] AND SAID UNTO ME, BEHOLD, I WILL MAKE THEE FRUITFUL, AND
MULTIPLY THEE, AND I WILL MAKE OF THEE A MULTITUDE OF PEOPLE; AND WILL GIVE
THIS LAND TO THY SEED AFTER THEE FOR AN EVERLASTING POSSESSION.
[GEN 48:5] AND NOW THY TWO SONS, EPHRAIM AND MANASSEH, WHICH WERE BORN UNTO
THEE IN THE LAND OF EGYPT BEFORE I CAME UNTO THEE INTO EGYPT, ARE MINE; AS
REUBEN AND SIMEON, THEY SHALL BE MINE.
[GEN 48:6] AND THY ISSUE, WHICH THOU BEGETTEST AFTER THEM, SHALL BE THINE,
AND SHALL BE CALLED AFTER THE NAME OF THEIR BRETHREN IN THEIR INHERITANCE.
Apparently Joseph had other sons. These sons were assimilated into either
Ephraim or Menasseh. This accounts for the apparent discrepancies between
the accounts in Chronicles and those of Genesis 46 and Numbers 26.
Chronicles lists the other sons who were counted as either Ephraim or
Menasseh under the headings of either of the two.
[GEN 48:7] AND AS FOR ME, WHEN I CAME FROM PADAN, RACHEL DIED BY ME IN THE
LAND OF CANAAN IN THE WAY, WHEN YET THERE WAS BUT A LITTLE WAY TO COME UNTO
EPHRATH: AND I BURIED HER THERE IN THE WAY OF EPHRATH; THE SAME IS
BETHLEHEM.
There were two places called Beth-Lehem, one to the north of Jerusalem
somewhere between Ramalla and Shiloh and one to the south of Jerusalem in
the territory of Judah.
[GEN 48:8] AND ISRAEL BEHELD JOSEPH'S SONS, AND SAID, WHO ARE THESE?
Extract from "Ephraim"
ISAIAH AND THE RETURN OF THE LOST TEN TRIBES
The Lost Ten Tribes will also return. The Jews of Judah will meet the
return of the Lost Ten Tribes with mixed reactions:
ISAIAH (49;21) DESCRIBES HOW THE JEWISH PEOPLE UPON SEEING MASSES OF LOST
ISRAELITES RETURNING TO THE HOLY LAND WILL HAVE A SERIOUS QUESTION:
"THEN SHALT THOU SAY IN THY HEART, WHO HATH BEGOTTEN ME THESE,
SEEING I HAVE LOST MY CHILDREN, AND AM DESOLATE, A CAPTIVE, AND REMOVING TO
AND FRO? AND WHO HATH BROUGHT UP THESE? BEHOLD, I WAS LEFT ALONE; THESE
WHERE HAD THEY BEEN?" (ISAIAH 49;21)
In other words, the Jews will ask where were all those now identified as
Israel when the Jews needed help and were alone?
On the one hand those few people among
the Gentiles who have
helped the Jews have more often than not belonged to the Lost Ten Tribes.
On the other hand these nations were powerful and rich ones and they could
have done much more to help than they did. There were times even when the
Lost Ten Tribes had acted as the adversaries of Judah.
A reflection on this future conundrum is
provided by a passage in
the Zohar.
"The Zohar" is a collection of
writings mainly purporting to
transcribe the ethical and mystical teachings of certain Talmudic sages of
the 2nd century CE. Some modern scholars now claim it was written in Spain
in the 1270s CE when it was first revealed. This claim is either mistaken
or a some re-writing of much older material did take place. Previously "The
Zohar" was thought by savants to be the culmination over many decades, even
centuries, of a continuous editing process of mystical works. The present
general orthodox view is that it was written close to the events it
purports to describe, i.e. around the 100s CE. The Zohar certainly does
reflect ancient traditions and insights of a primordial nature.
Most Orthodox Jews who study "The Zohar" consider it to be
inspired. It contains observations of value for the understanding of
Scripture and also concerning the LOST TEN TRIBES. The Zohar (Breishit,
VaYechi, 88m, Sulam edition) comments on the expression "WHO HATH BEGOTTEN
ME THESE" in the verse we are here concerned with (ISAIAH 49;21). The Zohar
notes an emphasis in the question on the Hebrew word "EYLEH" i.e.
"these"':
The verse says: "THEN SHALT THOU SAY
IN THY HEART, WHO HATH
BEGOTTEN ME THESE, SEEING I HAVE LOST MY CHILDREN, AND AM DESOLATE, A
CAPTIVE, AND REMOVING TO AND FRO? AND WHO HATH BROUGHT UP THESE? BEHOLD, I
WAS LEFT ALONE; THESE WHERE HAD THEY BEEN?" (ISAIAH 49;21)
The Zohar emphasizes the emphasis on the
expression these: "WHO
HATH BEGOTTEN ME THESE.....? AND WHO HATH BROUGHT UP THESE...THESE, WHERE
HAD THEY BEEN?"
The Zohar then refers back to the time
when the Patriarch Israel
was about to die and his son Joseph had brought his grandsons, Ephraim and
Menasseh, to him to receive a final blessing.
"WHEN ISRAEL SAW JOSEPH'S SONS, HE
SAID, WHO ARE THESE?" (Genesis
48;8).
[Said Rabbi Yehudah bar Shalom, "And
why did he did he
not recognize them?" Had he not been familiar with them?... "And now
he
asks, Who are these?"..."But rather he must have foreseen [through Divine
Inspiration] Jeroboam son of Nebat and Ahab son of Omri [both future kings
of the northern separated Ten-Tribes of Israel] who would arise from
Ephraim and worship idolatry" Midrash Tanchuma, VaYichi,6.]
The Zohar relates:
"Rabbi Abba began to explain [the
above question of the Patriarch
Israel, "Who are these?"] by relating it to [the verse in ISAIAH 49;21]
"then shalt thou say in thy heart: `Who hath begotten me these?': What
does this verse imply?
-That the Heavenly Patriarch Israel
foresaw the Children of Israel
assembling before him in the future: `In that day the LORD shall set his
hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people which shall
be left [FROM ASSYRIA, AND FROM MITSRAYIM, AND FROM PATHROS, AND FROM CUSH,
AND] FROM ELAM, AND FROM HAMATH, AND FROM THE ISLES OF THE SEA" (ISAIAH
11;11).
The above place names are those to where
the Lost Ten Tribes were
taken or went shortly after their Exile. Isaiah continues to speak of the
ingathering of the Lost Tribes as well as that of Judah and of
reconciliation between the Lost Tribes and Judah:
[ISAIAH 11:12] HE WILL RAISE AN ENSIGN FOR THE NATIONS, AND WILL ASSEMBLE
THE OUTCASTS OF ISRAEL, AND GATHER THE DISPERSED OF JUDAH FROM THE FOUR
CORNERS OF THE EARTH.
[ISAIAH 11:13] THE JEALOUSY OF EPHRAIM SHALL DEPART, AND THOSE WHO HARASS
JUDAH SHALL BE CUT OFF; EPHRAIM SHALL NOT BE JEALOUS OF JUDAH, AND JUDAH
SHALL NOT HARASS EPHRAIM.
The question concerning "these"
therefore refers to the Lost Ten
Tribes (Ephraim) in the End Times.
The Zohar goes on to explain Isaiah
49;21, the question `WHO HATH
BEGOTTEN ME THESE?'
"And they shall assemble together
and be mutitudinous; the Divine
Presence [i.e. Heavenly Israel] will wonder and ask, `Where did you all
come from?'
`And is it not possible that
there
exists amongst you someone blemished, of foreign seed?' "They will answer,
`We are all your sons. There is no foreigner amongst us'.
"And they will divide off from each
other. The foreign
non-Israelite element will voluntarily separate from them, and they [i.e.
the returning Israelites] will be circumcised, and convert, and these
converts will return with [and to] Israel, and they shall be one."
In other words the Zohar says that the
returning Israelites will
be renew the Covenant and be re-united with Israel meaning (in terms of the
Zohar) with the Jewish people. In Biblical terms Israel can mean all of the
12 tribes together or it can mean the Lost Tribes ("Israel") as distinct
from "Judah" or it can stand for the Jews and Judah alone. In religious
terms "Israel" can mean those of Israel who did not lose their identity
meaning Judah. In this case members of the Lost Ten Tribes will be rejoined
to the spiritual reality of Israel represented by the Jews of Judah.

YAIR DAVIDI ANSWERS QUESTIONS ABOUT THE
REUNION OF THE TEN LOST TRIBES AND JUDAH
>
>I'm glad to see a little more flesh to what you think is going to happen in the future. My last letter you never answered in which I asked about how you thought this would play out since
>obviously your work means nothing for the individual - which many people don't realize but which you are finally trying to straighten out.
>
Yair Davidi replies:
Ten Tribes. Joseph and Judah will re-unite. They will re-unite as
groups not as masses of individuals making partisan decisions.
>
>On what basis do you say this?
>
Yair Davidi replies:
From my impression of Scripture and Rabbinical sources.
>
>Do you, therefore, based on this envision a NATIONAL re-union? In other words, the anglo-saxon NATIONS will unite with Israel, and HaShem will call that 'close enough' - whoever is
>not one of the lost tribes just kind of gets swept along into the unification by virtue of being associated with the lost tribes? If you can answer this, this will clarify things for me greatly. Or do
>you believe the Moshiach is going to tell each person individually if they are of the lost tribes? Of course, then you don't really have people coming as a unit but individually which does not
>align with your initial assertion. I would really like to know how you envision this reunion in light of the fact that this research is meaningless for the individual.
>
Yair Davidi replies:
Joseph will unite with Judah at the national level. This will be
preceded by people on both sides becoming more aware of the identity
of Joseph and wishing for the union and working towards it. The
Messiah (Moshiach) son of David will provide the means for each
person to be sure what Tribe he belongs to.
The Brit-Am message. We say that the Lost Ten Tribes can be identified
as being on the whole amongst certain peoples. They have an
identity of their own. They should be made aware of this identity.
>
>Why? What purpose does it serve since it is irrelevant to the individual - only relevant to those AMONGST - which we don't know who those are?
>
Yair Davidi replies:
If you live in Britain, America, or Australia then you have an inborn
attachment to those places and to the people there. If your
ancestors were of such and such origin then it helps to know that
they were of Israelite descent especially if you believe in the Bible
and feel an affinity with the ancient Israelites and with the present
Jewish people. This knowledge can also help deepen one's faith in
God and the Bible and the future. It adds a new dimension to
existence. This is a lot.
Those who believes in our message should endeavor to spread knowledge of
the truth of this identity. He should endeavor to do God's will and
encourage others to do so as well.
The re-union between Judah and Joseph can only take place when both
are ready for it and Joseph has undertaken to reform himself.
>
>On what basis do you say that Joseph needs to reform himself? Joseph worships the one true God PLUS a lot more. They are a holy people.
>
Yair Davidi replies:
Not so. But even if they were both Judah and Joseph have to better
themselves and return to God. In my opinion Judah more or less
already has the way but does not use it properly whereas Joseph is
still searching. I was speaking especially with the viewpoint of
Judah in mind. other people are free to look at the matter differently.
