UNDERSTANDING TORAH AND THE TEMPLE By Eddie Chumney
#1) Torah (which means instruction) and Word of God are synonymous terms in the Bible. One example is Isaiah 2:3. Also Psalm 119.
#2) God NEVER changes and Jesus is the SAME yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). Since Jesus is the TORAH/WORD of God, it will endure FOREVER.
THE WORD OF GOD / TORAH ENDURES FOREVER
Isaiah 40:8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the WORD our God shall stand FOREVER.
Psalm 119:44 So shall I keep thy law continually for ever and ever.
THE UNDEFILED WALK IN THE TORAH /WORD OF GOD
Psalm 119:1 Blessed [are] the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD.
TORAH AND WORD OF GOD ARE SYNONYMOUS TERMS
Psalm 119:16 I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy WORD.
Psalm 119:18 Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy LAW.
Psalm 119:29 Remove from me the way of lying: and grant me thy law graciously.
TORAH / WORD OF GOD IS THE WAY OF TRUTH
Psalm 119:30 I have chosen the way of truth: thy judgments have I laid [before me].
Psalm 119:142 Thy righteousness [is] an everlasting righteousness, and thy LAW [is] the TRUTH.
Malachi 2:6-7 The LAW of TRUTH was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and equity, and did turn many away from iniquity.
For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he [is] the messenger of the LORD of hosts.
IF WE REJECT THE TORAH, GOD WILL FORGET OUR CHILDREN
Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
WE KEEP THE TORAH / WORD OF GOD WITH OUR WHOLE HEART
Psalm 119:34 Give me understanding, and I shall KEEP THY LAW; yea, I shall observe it with [my] WHOLE HEART.
This is the greatest commandment to love keep and to keep His Word / Torah with your whole heart.
Psalm 119:44 So shall I keep thy law continually for ever and ever.
THE WICKED FORSAKE THE TORAH / WORD OF GOD
Psalm 119:53 Horror hath taken hold upon me because of the WICKED that FORSAKE thy LAW.
THE RIGHTEOUS KEEP THE TORAH / WORD OF GOD
Psalm 119:55 I have remembered thy name, O LORD, in the night, and have kept thy law.
IF YOU FORSAKE THE TORAH, YOUR PRAYERS ARE AN ABOMINATION
Proverbs 28:9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer [shall be] abomination.
PAUL INSTRUCTED BELIEVERS TO KEEP THE TORAH / WORD OF GOD
Romans 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law
> >If this is true, what sacrifices are you saying will continue when the >Temple is rebuilt? >
All of them? Why? Because Torah means INSTRUCTION. It does NOT mean "law". INSTRUCTION is for a REDEEMED people. Yeshua means SALVATION.
You think that the Temple sacrifices were performed as a means to forgive sin. This is FALSE. NO SACRIFICE EVER forgave sin even in the days of the Temple. Sacrifices are TORAH (instruction) on HOW sin is forgiven. Performing sacrifices does NOT forgive sin.
The premise of the assumption of your question is invalid this is why you are asking the question.
Ezekiel 43:10 Thou son of man, shew the house to the house of Israel, that they may be ashamed of their iniquities: and let them measure the pattern.
Ezekiel 43:11 And if they be ashamed of all that they have done, shew them the form of the house, and the fashion thereof, and the goings out thereof, and the comings in thereof, and all the forms thereof, and all the ordinances thereof, and all the forms thereof, and all the laws thereof: and write [it] in their sight, that they may keep the whole form thereof, and all the ordinances thereof, and do them.
Ezekiel 43:12 This [is] the law of the house; Upon the top of the mountain the whole limit thereof round about [shall be] most holy. Behold, this [is] the law of the house.
"Show the house to the house".
The TEMPLE is called the HOUSE OF GOD.
Isaiah 56:6
Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant;
Isaiah 56:7 Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices [shall be] accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.
So, the NON-JEW who KEEPS the SABBATH ... his BURNT OFFERINGS and their SACRIFICES will be ACCEPTED upon MINE ALTAR.
This is the ALTER that is in the TEMPLE which is called "mine house" and a HOUSE OF PRAYER for all people.
Matthew 21:12 And Jesus went into the temple of God
Matthew 21:13 And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.
The TEMPLE is the HOUSE of JESUS.
It is the LAW / COMMANDMENT of God / Jesus to "show the house to the house" that they may be ASHAMED OF THEIR INIQUITY (Ezekiel 43:10-12).
The PURPOSE of the TEMPLE and the SACRIFICES is to TEACH US that we are SINNERS (that they may be ashamed of their iniquity).
You have been taught and think the opposite. You think that the Temple sacrifices were done so that our sins would be forgiven. However, the opposite is true. The sacrifices were given to SHOW US that we are SINNERS (that they may be ashamed of their iniquity).
The non-Jew who KEEPS the Sabbath will be brought to "my hold mountain" (Isaiah 56:7) which is Zion.
Psalm 2:6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
JESUS WILL TEACH THE TORAH TO ALL NATIONS FROM THE TEMPLE IN JERUSALEM DURING THE MESSIANIC ERA
Isaiah 2:2-3 And it shall come to pass in the last days, [that] the mountain of the LORD'S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.
And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD (ZION), to the HOUSE of the God of Jacob (TEMPLE); and HE (MESSIAH) will teach us of his ways, and we will WALK IN HIS PATHS: for out of Zion shall go forth the LAW, and the WORD of the LORD from JERUSALEM.
So ...
#1) Torah and Word of God are synonymous terms #2) The Torah / Word of God will endure FOREVER #3) The Temple is the house of Jesus #4) The Temple sacrifices TEACH US that we are SINNERS #5) It is a commandment to show the house to the house #6) Non-Jews who keep the Sabbath ... God will honor their burnt offerings upon the altar in the Temple #7) Jesus will teach the Torah from the Temple in Jerusalem during the Messianic Era.
> >If you are referring to the yearly atonement sacrifices >in which the Levitical priest went into the most holy place with the >blood,it seems contradictory. But on the other hand, are you saying >that a priest after the order of Melchizedek will carry on the >sacrificial system after the temple is rebuilt? > >Please clarify. >
Every Biblical covenant will have a priestly system to oversee that covenant. Originally, when man was created, Adam had the role of King / Priest before God. This was also the right of the firstborn. When Adam died this office was passed to the first born in the surviving generation. It was eventually passed to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. When Jesus made the covenant with Abraham (Genesis 15, 17 and Galations 3:16-17) this covenant was made under the Melchezedek priesthood. Jesus is the high priest of this priesthood.
On behalf of the covenant with Abraham, the nation of Israel was redeemed out of Egypt. When they were redeemed that ALL were FIRSTBORN and thus kings / priests unto the God of Israel under the Melchezedek priesthood.
Exodus 4:23 And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, [even] thy FIRSTBORN.
Exodus 19:5-6 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth [is] mine:
And ye shall be unto me a KINGDOM OF PRIESTS, and an holy nation. These [are] the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.
At this point in time, the nation of Israel who was a KINGDOM OF PRIESTS and the FIRSTBORN of the God of Israel were operating as priests in the Melchezedek priesthood.
However, because of the sin of the golden calf, the Levites assumed this role of the priesthood.
Numbers 3:12-13 And I, behold, I have taken the LEVITES from among the children of Israel INSTEAD of all the FIRSTBORN that openeth the matrix among the children of Israel: therefore the Levites shall be mine;
Because all the firstborn [are] mine; [for] on the day that I smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt I hallowed unto me all the firstborn in Israel, both man and beast: mine shall they be: I [am] the LORD.
Exodus 32:19 And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount.
Exodus 32:26 Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who [is] on the LORD'S side? [let him come] unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.
So, becaue the nation of Israel built the golden calf and DIDN'T OBEY THE TORAH, the lost their firstborn position to the Levites. The Levites functioned under the Tabernacle and Temple until Messiah came to REDEEM THE FIRSTBORN who had fallen.
John the Baptist was the last (LEGITIMATE) Levitical priest under the Mosaic tabernacle and Temple system.
When Messiah died on the tree, He established a RENEWED covenant (Jeremiah 31 and Hebrews 8) which is a TORAH based covenant and HE is the high priest of this priesthood after the order of Melchezedek.
The Levites still have a role in the Melchezedek priesthood and still have functions in the Temple.
In the end of days, God promised to take LEVITES from AMONG THE NATIONS (non-Jews).
Isaiah 66:20-21
And they shall bring all your brethren [for] an offering unto the LORD out of all nations upon horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon swift beasts, to MY HOLY MOUNTAIN Jerusalem (ZION), saith the LORD, as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the HOUSE (TEMPLE) of the LORD.
And I will also take of them for priests [and] for LEVITES, saith the LORD.
These Levites from among the nations will be doing the Temple services during the Messianic Era.
Ezekiel 45:5 And the five and twenty thousand of length, and the ten thousand of breadth, shall also the LEVITES, the ministers of the house, have for themselves, for a possession for twenty chambers.
Ezekiel 45:16-17 All the people of the land shall give this oblation for the prince in Israel (MESSIAH)
And it shall be the prince's part [to give] burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and drink offerings, in the feasts, and in the new moons, and in the sabbaths, in all solemnities of the house of Israel: he shall prepare the sin offering, and the meat offering, and the burnt offering, and the peace offerings, to make reconciliation for the house of Israel.
Not only with the Levites being doing services in the Temple of the Messianic Era with all the various offerings but the Sabbath and new moon will be observed also.
Ezekiel 46:3 Likewise the people of the land shall worship at the door of this gate before the LORD in the sabbaths and in the new moons.
> > Also, your >assumption that God cannot change His word >
God doesn't change His Word. It is ETERNAL.
Psalm 89:34 My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.
God says that He will NOT break His covenant nor alter the thing that is gone forth out of his lips.
> > > is inconsistent with >Jeshua's >actions, i.e. Torah instruction of marriage (Divorce) (Deut 24:1-5), >changed by Jeshua in Matthew 5:32. The previous word of G-d was >changed! >
Matthew 5:32 It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:
Matthew 5:33 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.
This is the same thing that the Torah teaches. Actually, the school of Hillel during the time of Jesus taught this same thing.
Jesus is NOT Messiah if He broke (or changed) the TORAH. It is a VIOLATION of the TORAH to CHANGE IT.
Deut 4:1-2 Now therefore hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the judgments, which I teach you, for to do [them], that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which the LORD God of your fathers giveth you.
Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish [ought] from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.
If you think that Jesus broke or CHANGED the Torah of Moses, you better find another Messiah because CHANGING the Torah of Moses is a violation of the Torah of Moses and is thus the definition of sin.
SIN = Transgression of the Torah (I John 3:4)
Yet, we know that Messiah was SINLESS. This means He NEVER broke or CHANGED the Torah of Moses (which most of Christianity claims that Messiah died on the tree and CHANGED the Torah of Moses ... 'we are not under the law').
Therefore, IF Messiah CHANGED the customs of Moses (which is NOT true) then He CANNOT be Messiah.
In Acts 6-7, Stephen was stoned because of a FALSE ACCUSATION made against Stephen that Stephen was teaching that Messiah changed the customs of Moses. Acts 6 tells us clearly that Messiah did NOT CHANGE the customs of Moses.
KJV Acts 6:9 Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen.
KJV Acts 6:11 Then they SUBORNED MEN, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God.
KJV Acts 6:13 And set up FALSE WITNESSES, which said, This man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law:
KJV Acts 6:14 For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us.
So, the THOUGHT that Messiah CHANGED the customs of Moses is a FALSE WITNESS against the Messiah. Sadly, this is what most of Christianity teaches.
Let us repent of our sins and the sins of our fathers and bring restoration to the body of Messiah by embracing our rich Hebraic Heritage in Messiah.
