Just a note on the Matthew 7 text; when Jesus says " I never you " that word
knew is gnosko in the Greek and the equivalent in meaning to the Hebrew word
"yadah" spoken of by Eddie concerning the understanding of this passage of
Scripture. The Greek word gnosko means to have most intimate spiritual
relationship and it is to be understood, by its' usage in Scripture, to speak
of the Bride and Bridegroom relationship. It means to know intimately and to
be known intimately by abiding relationship. The meaning of this word speaks
to our hearts and heart attitude as the Bride toward our Bridegroom. It
speaks to fruit coming forth after the heart attitude. The use of this word
is not to mean we perform to gain acceptance but that we respond in love to
the initiator of that love who is our Bridegroom, the Messiah. Those who
practice lawlessness are like those spoken of in Psalm 5:5 where we are told
that "the boastful shall not stand in His sight." Love for the Bridegroom is
not accurately portrayed by one who boasts of his deeds but rather by one who
boasts of the initiated love of the Bridegroom for the Bride. To go before
the Lord and attempt to gain place by our accomplishments is the
self-righteous attempt to gain entry by works rather than by abiding,
faithful relationship between Bride and Bridegroom. Just a few thoughts from
the "Greek" side of things for your consideration.
