DIFFERENT LEVELS OF GRACE There is a scripture in John 1:16-17 that says: And of His fullness we have all recieved, and grace for (greek: ant=ED) grace. For the law (Torah) was given through Moses, (but) - this word is NOT in the original greek text - grace and truth came through Jesus Christ (NJKV) Look at this text in the jewish New Testament: We have all recieved from his fullness, yes, grace upon grace. For the Torah was given through Moshe; grace and truth came through Yeshua the Messiah. Jaacov saw the ladder from the earth to heaven. The ladder is the Messiah, according to John 1:51. As there are different steps on the ladder we can see that there are different LEVELS of revelation. In John 1:16-17 we se different LEVELS OF GRACE, "grace upon grace". There are also different levels of faith, Rom 1:17, "from faith to faith" and of power, Psalm 84:7, "they go from strength to strength", and of glory, "from glory to glory" (II Cor 3:18) etc. In the First Covenant (Old Testament) there is a lower level of revelation of the Messiah, and a lower level of grace. When the Messiah came he came with GRACE UPON GRACE. I agree whith all of Eddies teaching concerning the grace in the Torah. John 1:16-17 says that the Torah was given by grace by Moshe, and that the Messiah came with MORE revelation of grace and truth. Salm 119:29 says: Remove from me the way of lying, And GRANT ME YOUR LAW (Torah) GRACIOSLY (heb: chaneni). The Torah is given by grace. HIGHER LEVEL OF GRACE But we also need to understand that there is a higher level of grace with the Messiah's coming, "grace upon grace". This fact does NOT exclude that the Torah was given by grace. 2 Corinthians 3 speaks about different levels of glory. Verses 7-11 say: But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds MUCH MORE IN GLORY. For even what was made glorious had no glory in this respect, because of the GLORY THAT EXCELS. For if what is passing away was glorious, what remains is MUCH MORE GLORIOUS. So: The first Covenant is a Covenant established by grace. And the Renewed (New) Covenant is a Covenant with MUCH MORE GRACE. In the first Covenant man could not obey the Torah because his heart was still by stone. But in the renewed Covenant G'd takes out the hearts of stone and puts hearts of flesh, puts his Spirit and his Torah in us and makes us love Him and makes us fulfill his Commandments, Jer 31:31-34; This is true grace. Blessings in our Lord Yeshua the Messiah. Stefan *******************************************************************
