The issue is always BALANCE. A child cannot walk without learning to 'balance' himself. When I read your response I had two very vivid images come to mind. Call them spiritual metaphors explaining the same reality. The first was of a small child struggling to stand. each step labored and hesitant for a sudden return to the floor follows a failure at maintaining control of your feet or loss of your balance. as a child learns to crawl, stand, walk, and run he does so around his 'center of gravity'. a child's success does not negate the Law of Gravity. for any time we fail to maintain 'balance' and/or 'control' we 'fall'. From Eddie: ************** The is a good analogy because so many who are on this newsgroup and are studying the Hebraic/Jewish Roots of Christianity are BEGINNERS and if they are not rooted and grounded in the faith, they can easily accept teaching that steers them to be OUT OF BALANCE (like you don't need to accept the Messiah for salvation, the Messiah is not God, the NT is not scripture etc). From Bob: ************ The LAW, whether Torah or Gravity, was given by G*D to allow us to stand upright before HIM. Without Gravity we would float in a weightless state, there would be no atmosphere. no air to breath. no life on this planet. So would it be without Torah. People ask about 'the outer darkness'. this is a thought they probably never imagined, Eddie. The second image was of a two edged sword. [I am not going to mess this up with any attempts to plug in greek or hebrew terminology.] The WORD of G*D is described as a two edged sword. Without BALANCE it is a struggle to effectively utilize. Without a BALANCED comfortable weapon a soldier's life expectancy decreases rapidly. Maybe that is why most 'christians' never put on the 'whole armor' because everything is "out of balance" in their lives. Self deception is very dangerous and without law our feet cannot be grounded. We cannot walk, let alone stand. Yeshua warned us repeatedly about being deceived. As Adonai He warned us about chasing after other gods. I do not see a lot of difference. either in the warning, or the outcome. But why two edges? Because it is easier to stand on two feet, ask anyone who has 'lost' the use of one or both. and if you cannot 'stand' 'walking' is not physically possible. and if we cannot walk we certainly cannot 'follow'. THE MOST HOLY seems to enjoy speaking to us in two modes. That which is written. and that which He breathes into our lives. according to HIS pleasure and HIS purpose , not ours Thank you Eddie, for allowing me to share.
