Philip Nowland and Jim,

Thank you so much for your posts! I believe the New Testament is scripture
and divinely inspired and that God was/is sovereign behind the canonization.
Certainly the historical church has done wrongful things but God can bring
forth greatness out of what seems to be nothingness. He has been doing that
from the beginning. He created a universe out of nothingness. He breathed
life into clay to bring us to be. He brought out the population of the world
out of Noah and his family. He brought forth a son to Abram and Sarai. He
used a shepherd boy with a sling to kill a giant warrior who blasphemed
against the God of Israel. And ultimately, He came to earth incarnate as
Jesus/Yeshua -- a baby in a manger! God did the same with the canonization.
He can use you and me. I love my Bible and I believe every word from
Genesis 1 to Revelation 22 is the divinely inspired Word of God. And I love
the church despite the wrong we do to one another and to others.

Love in Christ,
Jamie

P.S. Let me ask you to pray for me. I am encouraged to see how we have let
one another know about needs we have (Like Rabbi O's need for a vehicle). I
am unsettled in my church identity. I attend different churches regularly,
but have not found a church home. I realize I long for the united body of
believers when we get to Heaven, but that I am here now to do His work in
this world. Pray that I would look to Him to guide me to where I am to
worship. I want to find a church home so that I won't be a moving target.
God bless you.

Jamie, our prayers are indeed with you that you will be led by
the Ruach HaKodesh / Holy Spirit in all you ways and He will plant
you in the EXACT place that He desires to fulfill His Will for your
life!

I am drifting to the opinion that the NT is to be likened to Talmudic
literature. It expands and explains the Tenach. But as opposed to
the Talmud, I DO believe that it is inerrant.

Dear Eddie,

I have learned a great deal of information in the weeks i have been
part of 'the family'. But there has been an uneasiness in my spirit
when i come across certain points of discussion. the canon/scripture
area is but one. it is good to learn ones roots, ones heritage as long
as we look forward as often as we look back. i wonder how many of
Abraham's kids also happen to be 'Sons of Issacar'.

I confess i don't know much theology or hebraic termonology so bear
with me. i have read and studied what is called the Old Testement, and
have found great wisdom, knowledge, and understanding of the ONE WHO
CALLS HIMSELF 'THE HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL'. especially when desiring to
walk upright before HIM. but there is a problem in the TORAH/TANAKH
that has always troubled me. and the simplest way to explane is in two
scriptures.

"How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that
bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good
tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, THY
G*D REIGNETH!" Isaiah 52:7. and 8 O taste and see that the LORD is
good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. Psalm 34:8

Awhile back I learned that the Hebrew word 'basar' meant glad
tidings/good news or what we today call 'gospel'. except that there is
nothing in the OT that is 'sweet to the taste' or close to sounding like
'good news'. if you leave out the PROMISE. if you leave out SALVATION.
if you ignore all the prophecies concerning our Yeshua. HE is our GOOD NEWS
and our
BLESSED HOPE. without the prophecies of the OT what purpose is there
for a NT. and without the REVELATION of the WORD in the gospels the
Tanakh would have only philosophies and theories that man could argue
forever. and never find the TRUTH. so forgive me if i struggle to
understand why the discussion on topics that ignour simple common sense.
maybe i miss the deep and involved
noyances but do they really help us to serve lovingly and humbly.

i keep feeling we miss too much of the simple because we are so busy
compounding the convoluted.

           Bob,

The answer to your question is very simple. There are
many who discover the Hebraic/Jewish Roots of their faith and
recognize that the Sabbath is eternal, that God gave the Festivals in
Lev 23 for His people to keep and celebrate rather than Christmas and
Easter and recognize that the Torah is eternal and begin to examine
what the Bible says regarding WHAT their ROLE and responsibilities
are toward the Torah and embracing their Hebraic Roots and then want
to DISCARD the MESSIAH and say that Yeshua/Jesus is not God and that
the NT is not scripture.

The purpose of these discussions is to enable people to
realize that embracing our the Hebraic/Jewish Roots should allow us
to BETTER UNDERSTAND the NT not replace it and to BETTER UNDERSTAND
the Messiah NOT replace Him for new discovered truths.

In other words, BALANCE .... BALANCE ... BALANCE ...
