Subject: Celebrating Sabbath

Dear Mishpahah (family),

During the week we study a portion of the Torah as a family. We discuss
it as the week progresses. We pray together as a family. Our table has
become our altar during the week, too. Instead of just rushing in our
lives, we have made time for HIM. Then on Friday our whole family comes
to our house for sabbath. (This week is our monthly sabbath gathering
with our local group, too, at our home so we will have over 30 people
here!) See my article on my site at http://www.haydid.org/1sab.htm on
what happens when the sabbath begins. We come together to sing,
dance, and be as ECHAD (ONE) before HIM! We start at 6:30 pm to
gather although throughout the day people are in and out helping to
get ready. And then the people will stay until midnight or one o'clock!
Then we roll into our services (the ancient ones) at 10:30 am and
finish about 1:30 pm. Then it is Oneg---after service social time where
everyone has brought sweets to share (coffee cakes, brownies, cakes,
pies, etc..) and we stay together until about 4 pm (or sometimes later).
Then it is home for the rest of the day. Havdalah follows at sundown
with the biggest disappointment coming---its over! We have to wait
another whole week to be together again! Oh, it is time to anticipate
next sabbath already! But in the havdalah service we see HIM revealed
again! We take the light, fragrance, and taste of HIM from that service
into our week! Everything that we touch is touched by our hands that
worshiped HIM in spirit and in truth! Everything that we smell is brought
to us through our nose...they same nose that smelled HIM during the
sabbath. AND the same eyes that saw HIS LIGHT during the sabbath is
looking at other people that are lost during the week. We behold HIS Heart desiring the lost to
come to HIM each day!

Shalom Alechiem,
