From: Pamela Jackson To: heb_roots_chr@geocities.com Subject: Re: Book: Angels on Assignment Dear Mishpachah (family): I am really greatful and thankful for all of your comments and concerns in my quest to find a book for my studies. I have and am really enjoying all of the comments. It strengthens me in my walk and understanding of the Lord Jesus Christ. While I was in my bible study class last night(we are continuing the subject of Angels) a lot of the points that you all have made concerning Angels and the worship of them and how God sends them at special times to do some of the works that was said the Holy Spirit would do. This became a very long discussion in class concerning the Holy Spirit and Angels. Again thank you for your comments and please keep them coming. Oh yeah....if there are any rooter in the Washington D.C (Tri-City) area please let me know. It seems to be out of much love and concern, to be sure, that so many responses have come forth. As believers in Yeshua, and God's Word (the Holy Bible), we must all rely upon the Holy Spirit and God-given wisdom, knowledge and discernment concerning our search for knowledge and truth. We must all use caution and the aforementioned Godly attributes when seeking knowledge about the supernatural; and as long as we keep our focus Christ-centered and ourselves centered in Christ, we should be able to study all of God's Word, to include what He has to say about the ministry of angels. Many years ago, I too read Roland Buck's book on angels but since so much has been expressed already, I will not elaborate. I will say that there was a brief period of time in my life several years ago, when I was fascinated in the "idea" of angels. I now know that I was being "seduced" into New Ageism, but Praise be to God and the prescious witness of the Holy Spirit and His Spirit of Truth, satan was exposed! One night the Holy Spirit would not give me rest and pressed me about the issue of angels until He had me on my face before God confessing that I would have no others gods before me! That took care of any angel interest I had at that time. I will not bow down nor serve any god but the one true God--Jehovah! Now my only interest in angels is strictly from a biblical perspective. I did recommend the book "The Truth about Angels" by Terry Law as he does expose biblical truth and startling facts about God's angels and evil angels. Terry provides biblical principles about the ministry of God's angels. Again, I am ever reliant upon the Holy Spirit, the Word of God and availing myself of His wisdom, knowledge and discernment into all truth. What a wonderful safeguard is our God! On pages 211, 212, and 213, of his book, Terry Law provides this information: PROVE ALL THINGS Believers must not, and nonbelievers should not, accept anything supernatural without testing its source. Paul said to "prove all things" and to "hold fast that which is good" (1Thess 5:21) John wrote: Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world (1John 4:1) How do you test an angel? You do this by seeing 1)if his visit matches those in the Bible, 2)if his words line up with the Bible and 3)if the purpose which his visit achieves is biblical. Does he tell you he is the spirit of a dead friend or ancestor? In other words, does he draw your attention to himself or to beings other than Jesus and the Father? That is not a real angel of God. God's angels never testify of themselves. Does he bring you revelation that cannot be found in the Bible, say that all religions are of God and tell you that the hereafter is a good place for everyone? That is not a real angel of God. Does he entertain, socialize and hang around after his "assignment" is oer? That is not a real angel of God. Does he use spectacular lights, weird sounds or odd odors to get your attention? That is not a real angel of God. When a real angel appears, he gives you a message or helps you out of danger----and then vanishes. Does he flatter you and build up your prode, perhaps telling you how spiritual you are? That is not an angel of God. An angelic visitation is not proof of spiritual maturity. Does he leave you feeling anxious, fearful or confused? That is not an angel of God. Does he try to force you to do something against your inner witness? That is not an angel of God. Do these encounters bear spritual fruit? Do they cause you to change for the better in some way? Or are the results harmful to you or those around you? That is not an angel of God. If an angel tells you that you can talk to him anytime or call him in some way, or if he tells you that angels can live within you----he is a counterfeit. Real angels never become part of you, nor can you ever become an angel. How can you test an angel if you do not know the Bible? The answer is, you can't! (Terry goes on to say on page 213 that Knowing the Bible is Essential) To the group: Remember, this young person needs not only our concern but also our prayers as she ventures into this study. Please, let's not lose sight of that in the process of expressing our viewpoints and concerns over the issue of angels. Eddie, I would like to say that I and my husband have been blessed by your ministry. Thank you so much and for the Mishpachah (family). Many blessings to all of you. With a grateful heart and from one so very blessed to have been called, Shalom, Judy ***************************************************************** To: heb_roots_chr@geocities.com From: Paul Stringer Subject: Re: Book: Angels on Assignment Eddie: There are angels out there some from G-d and some not from G-d. The bible tells me that they never take first place or ask man to bow to them. if there from G-d.i see many men and women looking for something out there that will give them a new incite into the word. and what i read there nothing new. it all in the word of G-d. i have a messenger come to me who was or was not a man and the word given lined up with the word. the only thing that seem to be different was when we prayed, it was like we were at the throne room of G-d. what was told to me. i knew within my heart that G-d had already told this to me and it was just conformation. Do i believe in angels coming to us. Yes!!!! but not to be worship. any one who tries to worship a angel and the angel allows it you can bet it not from G-d. Paul ****************************************************************** From: Bruce Barham To: "heb_roots_chr@geocities.com"<heb_roots_chr@geocities.com> Subject: Angel discussion (my 2 cents) I've read with interest all the various angel related emails, primarily with deep disgust and sadness. My comments below are "tame" compared to what I really think. I've had to tone down the temptation to really lay it on. Why the unbelievable facination with created beings - facination that rivals - and in most cases exceeds - the wonder and facination for Yeshua and the Living God? I find it deeply disturbing how so many believers are getting "turned on" to "angels". I AM CERTAIN THE REAL ANGELS OF GOD ARE VERY, VERY SADENNED AND DISTURBED BY THE ADORATION, ADMIRATION, AND ATTENTION SHOWN THEM. THEY WOULD MUCH RATHER SEE ATTENTION, ADORATION, AND ADMIRATION SHOWN THEIR CREATOR AND MASTER -THE SAME CREATOR THAT MADE US!! Frankly, the facination for angels has(in a practical sense) become idolatry. Torah conscious people, more than others, should be VERY sensitive to idolatrous tendencies. I'm sure Satan just loves the attention to angels, especially since much of the discussion, channeling, visions, etc. involve "angels" sent from him instead of God. Just like the scriptures say, SATAN, HIMSELF, MASQUERADES AS AN ANGEL OF LIGHT! How do the self appointed angel experts know the difference? The arrogance of those that claim to know so much about angelic beings is sickening. THE SEARCH FOR "ANGELIC" KNOWLEDGE BORDERS ON THE OCCULT! IN MOST CASES IT'S PURE MYSTICISM. If I am ever in a position to do so, I will work to forbid angelic facination in any church for which I serve in leadership. 99 percent of the "facts" about angels are pure speculation. The scriptures are virtually void of any discussion of their character, appearance, nature, etc. There is scant info about them, and I believe that's for a reason - to insure we don't do what so many are now doing - giving idolatrous adoration to them. To read some of the garbage out about angels today you'd think the Bible describes their size, hair color, shoe size, favorite sport, sex, hobbies, wing aspect ratio, flight endurance record, etc. Let's admit it now - most authors of angelic-type literature are just out to make a buck! Their simply stumbling all over each other to pump out books on angels to pad their own pocket books. And let's face it, many "pastors" and "Christians" are just as covetous and greedy as anyone else. Anyone that feels compelled to study angels - that feels some deep interests to learn about angels - better stop and wonder about where that motivation is coming from. I doubt VERY MUCH that it's coming from the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit wants us to seek and learn about Yeshua and the Living God of Israel - not their servants. Such angelic motivation (in my opinion) originates with Satan as one of his countless ways with which he seeks to separate us from God by drawing our focus away from the Lord and toward "divers spirits". There is more to learn about Yeshua, Torah, and the Father than we could possibly accomplish in 100 lifetimes. Why don't all the angel seekers seek Yeshua? Why don't the angel worshippers/adorers worship and adore Yeshua? I'm sure the TRUE angels, as well as the Lord, would be far more pleased if we focus our efforts for knowledge and our worship toward the Creator - not the creature. Chapter 6; God's Priorities - First Priority: The Blood of Jesus - The Passover of the Lord, Second Priority; Fellowship and Communion with God - The Festival of Unleavened Bread, Third Priority: Jesus is Alive! - The Festival of First Fruits, Fourth Priority: The Promise of the Holy Spirit - The Restival of Pentecost, Fifth Priority: Go Tell the World - The Festival of Trumpets, Sixth Priority: Atonement of Jesus is Everlasting - The Day of Atonement, (This really blessed me) Seventh Priority: The Return of Jesus - The Festival of Tabernacles. Chapter 8; You are Covered! (Atonement) ( Under the Protection of the Blood of Jesus) Chapter 14; He is Coming Again! (Jesus is Coming!) I must say, although some of the book is about the angelic visitations, there is also a good message of salvation in the book. The book points mankind to Jesus, not angels. Psalms 8:5 says; For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Besides all that, Look to Jesus who shed His blood for our Redemption, But I still like to read about people who have visited heaven or have had angel visitations. We are striving to get to heaven to be with God and Jesus, but the angels will also be there. They are not leaving because we are coming. Even when we read about angels, keep your mind on God!
