From: Susan Jones To: <heb_roots_chr@mail.geocities.com> Subject: Jubilee Eddie, About the year of Jubilee..........I hear a lot of teachers and preachers discussing this, and saying this is the year. One question I have is, when would this year be counted from? Rosh Hashanah? Or from May of 1948? Some even say from January 1. Thanks......... Susan >From Eddie: ************** The year of Jubilee was to be counted from the time that the Jewish people were in the land of promise (the land of Israel). The problem in the modern day is when do you begin counting? The World Zionist Congress led by Theodore Herzel in 1897, the Balfour Declaration in 1922, when Israel became a nation in 1948, when Jerusalem was recaptured by the Jewish people, when the majority of Jews in the world live in the land of Israel? I believe that only God knows for sure. I do expect 1998 to be a year of MUCH change in the world. But is this a Biblical jubilee year? It is probably not but it is the 50th year since Israel has become a state. This cannot be overlooked very easily. The scriptures seem to indicate that Yeshua/Jesus will return to the earth at His second coming in the day of atonement in the year of jubilee. In Leviticus 25:9-10 it is written: "Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubilee to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month (Yom Kippur) in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land. And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim LIBERTY throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a JUBILEE unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family" Yeshua/Jesus our Messiah is our Jubilee. HE came to proclaim liberty to the captives. In Isaiah 61:1-2, it tells us about the Messiah and the Jubilee that He would bring to His people as it is written: "The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath annointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek' he hath sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound: to proclaim the ACCEPTABLE YEAR OF THE LORD (The Jubilee), and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all that mourn" Yeshua/Jesus quoted from Isaiah 61:1-2 in Luke 4:17-19, 21 as it is written: "And there was delivered unto him (Yeshua/Jesus) the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath annointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and the recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised. To preach the acceptable year of the Lord ... and he began to say unto them, THIS DAY is this scripture fulfilled in your ears." Here in Luke 4, Yeshua/Jesus was saying the HE is the Jubilee. But notice that Yeshua/Jesus didn't quote the last part of Isaiah 61:2 ... the DAY OF VENGEANCE OF OUR GOD. This is because Yeshua/Jesus will fulfill this at His second coming. This can be seen in Isaiah 63:1-4 as it is written: "Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, traveling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness MIGHTY TO SAVE (Yeshua/Jesus). Wherefore are you red in thine apparel, (Revelation 19:13) and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winefat? I have trodden the winepress alone: (Revelation 19:15), and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury, and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments (Yom Kippur terminology as the High Priest on the day of atonement had his garments sprinkled in blood) and I will stain all my raiment. For the DAY OF VENGEANCE (Isaiah 61:2) is in mine heart and the YEAR OF MY REDEEMED is come" Isaiah 61:1-4 speaks about the second coming of the Messiah. Have you ever heard it said that Yeshua/Jesus can come at any time? This is fallacy. His second coming when He sets His feet on the Mount of Olives (Zechariah 14:4) will be on the day of atonement in the year of Jubilee. In Isaiah 63:1-4 it tells us that: #1) It speaks of the Messiah ... 'I that speak in righteousness mighty to save' #2) He is returning to Jerusalem (Zechariah 14:4) from Edom (most probably Petra in Western Jordan) #3) He is red in his apparel (Isaiah 63:2, Revelation 19:13) and He is treading the winepress (Isaiah 63:3, Revelation 19:15) #4) Their blood is sprinkled upon His garments (Isaiah 63:3). This is Yom Kippur termology (Leviticus 16). #5) It is the day of vengeance of God (second coming of Yeshua/Jesus) and the year of my redeemed (the Jubilee) So, if 1998 is the Biblical year of the Jubilee then the Messiah has to return at his second coming and set his feet upon the Mount of Olives this year on Yom Kippur. If the Messiah does not do this and 1998 is a year of Jubilee then the Messiah cannot return for another 50 years. I believe that the Messiah will return at His second coming in the year of the jubilee just as the scriptures tell us. I do believe that we are VERY NEAR to the second coming of the Messiah but I don't believe that 1998 is a Biblical year of Jubilee. Yet, I believe that 1998 is a very signifant year because this is the 50th year since Israel became a nation. Much is likely to happen in the world in 1998. Only time will tell. ***********************************************************************
