Dear Newsgroup,

So, you want to buy a prayer shawl?  I can give you several sources for
ordering Judaica.

I recommend :   The Galilee Experience - e-mail; galexp@kinneret.co.il or
you can call toll free at, 1-888-838-7928    prices will be about $15-35.00
according to the catalog that I have.

You can also look up Beged Ivri at:   www.israelvisit.co.il/beged-ivri
this is the shop of Reuven Prager, and orthodox Jew in Israel.  They make
authentic biblical garments.

There is also:  Hamakor Judaica, Inc.  at 1-800-426-2567  in Niles,
IL...they seem a little pricy??

Also,  Levi's Gift World, a project of the Temple Store, Jewish Quarter in
the Old City of Jerusalem.   www.virtual.co.il/shopping/t.store

Finally, at least from me, is Alef Judaica in California....sorry I do not
have the phone number or address any longer.  If someone knows how to
contact them, please post the information. I would like to get in touch
with them.

Happy shopping........

Shalom,

Randy Felton

Honestly, I have yet to find any catalog operation actually cheaper
than just going to the local (Rabbinical) Jewish Synagogue, seeing
and touching them, and paying them the $$. I usally buy from them.

Shalom Dale:

Many Jewish communities (both Messianic and "mainstream") are
affiliated with at least one Judaica (a Jewish book and supply store).

On the Web, one source that was mentioned right here in the Hebraic
Roots group is Beged Ivri (literally, Hebrew clothing):

http://www.israelvisit.co.il/beged-ivri/index.html

Prayer shawls(Tallitot) are usually a standard 72" width, and vary in
length up to 72". Price depends on material, artwork, and vendor. The
simple, black striped tallit is the traditional style worn in many Othodox
communities and is probably the most affordable as it is the simplest.

I have a tallit that features mostly purple, with just a little blue,
green, red, and black.  It is 72" x 36" and I think it was about
$80-90 from the Judaica at the congregation I currently attend (Emmaus
in Bellevue, WA). You can even get a matched set including kippah
(yarmulke), prayer shawl/tallit and its carrying pouch.

I hope this tidbit is useful to you.

Jim Roberts

Dear Dale,

In response to your question about the purchase of a prayer shawl.
John Hagee ministries has either an audio tape or video tape called
"Mystery of the Prayer Shawl". Both come with a prayer shawl.  The
audio (item # SO-23A), is $35 and the video (item #SO23V), is $45.
Their order line number is 1-800-854-9899.

The best place to get a prayer shawl and for the best price is through
John Hagee's ministry.  The cost is $35.

On prayer shawls--most synagogue gift and book shops have them.

The Center for Judaic-Christian Studies in Dayton, Ohio is currently
looking at Israeli vendors of prayer shawls, with the idea in mind to
make shawls (tallitot) available to the friends of the ministry.  They
would be packaged with Dwight Pryor's teaching tape on the tallit, so
that you can learn and share with others this wonderful insight.  This
is still in the planning stages.  I can let you know if it works out.

The Center is working on a web site, but Dwight and Jeanette have been
traveling so much that it's going rather slowly.  They're currently in
New Zealand.  Should be back in the last of March.

Too bad that Rabbi Sha'ul, Priscilla, and Aquila aren't still making
tallitot!

Love to you all,

Dennis Sullivan  Dayton, Ohio

Hi Dale,

I bought my at a Jewish store in Toronto, but you can get one
out of  the Messianic Jewish Catalog at www.messiah.net or you can get
the Video about the Tallit and Tallit from John Hagee for something
like $45 at: http://secure.ebgi.com/material/us/US_MPS.htm  This is
the best price I see it, I paid about $65 Canadian for just the
Tallit.  Anyway I hope this helps.
