Christ is buried before sundown--- Matt.27:31-61, Mark 15:20-47, Luke 23:26-55, John 19:16-42) NISAN 15 --- THURSDAY 1st day of Unleavened Bread - Holy Day Passover meal/seder eaten in evening (still Wed by our time) Christ's first day in the tomb guards are stationed at the tomb --- Matt. 27:62-66 NISAN 16 ---FRIDAY 2nd day if Unleavened Bread Jesus's second day in the tomb Women buy and prepared spices --- Mark 16:1, Luke 23:56 NISAN 17 ---SABBATH 3rd day of Unleavened day the women rest this is Christ's 3rd night and 3rd day in the tomb Christ is resurrected Sabbath evening before the sunsets and 18th begins = fulfilling prophecy of Jonah's being "3 days and 3 nights" in the "heart of the earth" (grave) total of 72 hours --- Matt.12:40, Matt.28:1, Luke 23:56b NISAN 18 ---SUNDAY --- FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK He has risen women visit the tomb while it is still dark but light is beginning and they discover he is risen Jesus meets Mary, other women Jesus meets two disciples on way to Emmaus He meets all disciples that evening --- Matt. 18:2-10, Mark 16:1-14, Luke 24:1-49, John 20:2-201:22 This ends this scenario but may I also point to the fact that when He goes to heaven after 40 days we add to these 40 days the two days that he was in the grave to bring us to the day that the wave sheaf was offered. We then subtract those 42 days from the counted 49 until Pentecost and we arrive at 7 days. These are the 7 days necessary to anoint someone to be High Priest. Is not Christ our High Priest now? Is not the earth the copy of the heavenly? Is not God marvelous! Shalom Eva Schultz **********************************************************************
