For one thing if Jesus was crucified on Thursday that would mean that there would have been back to back Sabbaths. The high Sabbath on Friday, then the weekly Sabbath. There was no way that the women could have bought the spices to annoint His body. They were observant Jews and there would have been no place for them to buy the spices even if they did break the Commandment. Yeshua DID say that He would rise in three days-72 hours. That means He died on Wednesday at 3:00 and rose on Sabbath at 3:00. The women came early (I believe still Saturday night early Sunday morning) to annoint His body and Yeshua had already risen. I believe that our whole problem with not understanding the Wednesday crucifixion and Sabbath resurrection is cause by a misunderstanding That the Festival of First Fruits takes place during the week of Passover on the day after the Sabbath, Sunday. The Festival of First Fruits- Ha Bikkurim is the same as the Festival of Shavout. It does not take place within the Passover week. You can find this information in Leviticus 23. During the Passover week God told His people to begin to count fifty days starting after the Sabbath. I believe that He was talking about the High Sabbath. In Leviticus 23:10 the word firstfruits IS mentioned. However, when you look up the word in the Strong's IT IS NOT Ha Bikkurim, it is the word reshiyth ( #7225). However, in Leviticus 23:17 after the fifty days were counted we find that the Scriptures mentions another firstfruits. This time it is the word bikkoor (#1061). There is a Festival of First Fruits-- Ha Bikkurim, it is also known as Pentecost or Shavout. I have ask three different Rabbi's when the Festival of First Fruits takes place and all three say that it is the same as Shavout. I honestly believe if you take the time to study the Word of G-d you will find that Yeshua WAS crucified on Wednesday and resurrected on Sabbath. I urge everyone out there to study it for yourselves.
