Numbers 19:2 is the only scripture (that I know of) which directly mentions
a "red heifer."  God instructed that a red heifer was to be burned outside
the camp, and the blood to be sprinkled directly in front of the tabernacle
of meeting.  The ashes of the red heifer were mixed with water and used for
ceremonial purification for the children of Israel.  For example, if an
Israelite touched a dead body, he was considered unclean until he was
sprinkled with the "water of purification" which contained ashes from the
red heifer.

Ezekiel 43:18-27 describes the purification of the sacrificial altar of the
coming Millennial temple.  It mentions a heifer that is to be sacrificed
outside the camp and then the blood sprinkled on the four horns of the
altar to consecrate it.  Also speaking of the Millennial temple, Ezekiel
45:18-25 mentions that the dedication of the sanctuary will also be
cleansed by a heifer.  Could these heifers be referring to red heifers?

Paul
