From: Noma Wyllson To: heb_roots_chr@geocities.com Subject: Deut 6:8 Eddie: Could you please explain Deuteronomy 6:8 and Deuteronomy 11:18. please explain "a sign upon thine hand" Appreciate this very much. nom and Robert >From Eddie: ************** In Deut 6:8, it is written: "And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes" These words are written regarding being obedient to God and His commandments. The Orthodox Jew does this literally for the purpose of reminding him to be obedient to God and keep His commandments. The fulfilling of this commandment (in a literal, physical sense) is the wearing of tefillin by Orthodox Jews. The hand represents what we do. The frontlets between our eyes (our forehead) represents what we think and believe. If we are going to fulfill the greatest commandment to love God with all our heart, mind, soul and strength (Deut 6:4-5, Mark 12:28-31), we must ALWAYS have our thoughts upon God. If we ALWAYS have our thoughts upon God and keeping His commandments, it will affect what we DO. In I Thess 5:17, the Apostle Paul (Rav Sha'ul) tells us to pray without ceasing. How do we do that? We do that by keeping our thoughts upon God and obeying His commandments at all times during the day. In Joshua 1:8 it is written: "This book of the Torah shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night (pray without ceasing / frontlets between your eyes) that thou mayest DO (sign upon your hand) all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous and then thou shall have good success" Psalm 1:1-3 it is written: "Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the Torah of the Lord: and in his Torah does he meditate day and night (pray without ceasing / frontlets between your eyes). And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he DOES ( sign upon your hands - what you DO) shall prosper. We either do what God wants us to do or we do what the enemy wants us to do (sign upon your hand and frontlets between your eyes). BOTH are depicted in the book of Revelation. In Revelation 14:1, we see the 144,000 who are on Mount Zion who have the name of the Father on their foreheads as it is written: "And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the Mount Zion, and with him, a 144,000, having his Father's name written upon their foreheads" In Revelation 14:9-10 it is written: "And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in their forehead or in his hand, the same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture: and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb" Many Christians have their minds (what the think and believe) and their hands (what they do and how they live) saturated with the world and the world's system of lifestyle, conduct and values. The Bible calls the world's system --- Babylon. Babylon is the world's financial, religious and political system. That is why the cry in God's word is for HIS PEOPLE to come out of Babylon. In Revelation 18:2,4 it is written: "And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great, is fallen, is fallen ... and I heard another vocie from heaven, saying, Come out of her, MY PEOPLE, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues" In Zechariah 2:7, it is written: "Deliver thyself, O Zion (a term for God's people --- Isaiah 51:16) that dwells with the daughter of Babylon" This is the purpose of Hebraic Heritage Ministries and this newsgroup. The ministry is a shofar call to God's people to understand and leave the world's Babylonian financial, religious and political system and embrace the Hebraic roots of their faith which is found in Deut 6:4-6, 8: "SHEMA (Hear) O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord: and you shall love the Lord thy God with all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words which I command you this day, shall be in thine heart ... and you shall bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes" Yeshua/Jesus emphasized that this is the greatest commandment of God to keep in Matthew 22:36, Mark 12:29-31 as it is written: "Master, which is the greatest commandment in the Torah? And Jesus answered him, The first (greatest) of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; the Lord our God is one Lord: and you shall love the Lord thy God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength: this is the first (greatest) commandment. And the second is like, namely this, you shall love your neighbor as yourself (Lev 19:18). There is none other commandment greater than these." ************************************************************************ To educate, train and equip for study both the Jew and Non-Jew in the Rich Hebraic Heritage of our Faith.
