Shalom,
I am interested in learning what these "acrostic
messages" are.
If you could shed some light on the meaning and give me some idea
of what they are I would appreciate it.
Todah,

Dearest Nicole,
Verses 10-31 each begin with the twenty-two successive letters of the
Hebrew alphabet. This is the only phenomenon I am aware of regarding
these particular verses. Now as for WHY, I am a bit uncertain
myself...
Lots of love,

Subject: The Smitten Rock
Something that does not seem to have been picked up in this otherwise
good exposition is the fact that the expression "strike the rock"
refers to a little trick that shepherds used to do when they came to a
water spout that had become silted up. Apparently, they would strike
the rock where the silt had previously blocked it in order to release
the flow of water again.
David Miller teaches on this in the "Shepherd
of Israel" video obtainable from Church's Ministry AmongJewish People
at 30c Clarence Road, St Albans, AL1 4JJ, England UK - PAL Secam only.

There's a great book out by Ray Vander Laan, "Echoes of His Presence"
that describes the symbolism of the Jewish wedding, as well as other
aspects of the Jewish heritage. GREAT information and reading.

A couple of suggested titles that have been a blessing to us are
"Gleanings in Exodus" by A.W. Pink, "The Temple" by Alfred
Edersheim,
and "Study of the Types" by Ada R. Habershon. The last one may be a
little difficult to find. Our copy was published by Kregel books.
