Subject: Re: Jubilee
Dear Laura,
As this is my personal jubilee year I have done quite a bit of research on
the subject.
Jubilee is the Sabbath's Sabbath. God is very clear in His instruction
for Jubilee, both personally and for The Land itself.
The Biblical references are;
Leviticus 25, Numbers 36 v 4, 2 Kings 29 v 29, Isaiah 37 v 30, 2
Chronicles 36, Jeremiah 29 v 10 onwards, and Ruth 1 v 22
The main thrust of the Jubilee year was to deal with:
Leisure - spending time with one's family.
Greed - writing off all debts owed to you
Injustice - forgiving all hurts and abuses done to you
Rest - restoring one's health, and allowing one's body to get strong for
the coming 6 years
Slavery - setting free of slaves
Abolish poverty - releasing those indebted to you, and being released from
debt you owed
Destroying false wealth - all lands had to be returned to the original
owners, thereby restoring family ties.
(This enabled ties and geneology of Yeshua to be easily established at His
birth).
It gave time for one to deal with their families, for getting close
to God by studying His Word, and for acts of devotion to God, thereby
reminding one of your true focus.
It is to last one full year, from harvest to harvest (May).
It allowed the land to rest as well, so giving it a chance to replenish
itself, and become more fertile.
God always made the sixth year profitable, so one could afford to take the
7th year off. He will always save us if we obey His laws.
The fact that the Israelites did not obey Jubilee for 70 x 7 years, is
directly related to the fact that H'Shem kept them out of the Promised Land
for 490 years, l year for every one that they disobeyed His law for The
Land.
The worrying thing is that Jews again have not obeyed the Sabbath laws for
The Land for 7 x 7 years !
