Jerusalem - Hand of God - Letter #5
Greetings from Jerusalem!
Recently the United Nations passed a resolution, which makes it
possible to convict residents of Jewish settlements (in pre-1967 areas
of what is now called "West Bank") as "war criminals". The
resolution
wording is to the effect that if the residents of the settlements
"profit" the mother country then as "occupiers" they are war
criminals.
I have related this resolution as simply as possible but the
ramifications are tremendous when coupled with the expansion of Jerusalem
and the meaning of the "Hands". Let me explain...recently the
Municipality of Jerusalem declared the intention to expand the city
limits to include many "settlements", which are in the "West Bank" in
order for them to receive better coverage for water, electricity, sewer
disposal, roads and security. All of these amenities would then receive
easier financing and accomplishment if they came under the Municipality
of Jerusalem. ***This means ANY citizen of
Israel *** and any citizen who resides ANYWHERE IN JERUSALEM
could be detained in any airport, by any police, anywhere in the world,
outside of Israel until it is determined if they live in Jerusalem and then
to determine if their Jerusalem address is in a "settlement" or
not. They would not have to be arrested, only detained for a
undetermined length of time, missing air flights, etc. When "authorities"
determined the "detainee" is not a resident of a "settlement" they
would
be released after the unspecified length of time to be possibly then
"detained" again at whatever place next, and next, and so on.... But if
it is determined that the individual(s) ARE residents of a
settlement then they can be arrested as a "war criminal"!
Harassment against Jerusalem! Subtlety... a
harassment against the "hand" of God!? Quite an interesting
scenario,
which of course would not be made world news but would be a new twist in
anti-semitism!
This leads to issues of "why" the "hand of
Jerusalem" symbolism can
be important to each of us as individuals. As prophetic "last days"
approach the Bible states that Jerusalem will become a burden to the
world! Have you wondered just "how?" that would come to pass?
The
arguments over "expanded Jerusalem" compound the arguments over the city
claimed by two peoples to be their national capital. The issue should
be, to see the reality, that the city belongs to God and depicts His
choices, represents His plan. But if we do not understand that the city
is such a revelation then we are caught up into humanitarian arguments
rather than spiritual realities! If we do not understand, then we could
be caught up into choices against God. The scripture states that God's
people are destroyed because of lack of knowledge, Hosea 4:6a. I do not
think this principal has changed, whether we talk about finances,
weather, marriage, Israel or Jerusalem! We need to be careful to not
"worship" knowledge as it does not give us salvation but
"understanding"
can increase our worship to God, sense of God, how big He
really is and understanding may even bring others to Him!. Therefore, the
issues are extremely important as Jerusalem becomes the major argument of
the Nations of the World. Nations will fight and families will split
over this issue! Again, the real issues over Jerusalem are choices for
or against God's plan! We need to be careful to not "dig our heads into
the sand" because of coming events NOR get so "event" oriented that we
lose sight of learning to "know Him", "praise Him", "walk with
Him" on a
daily moment by moment basis. In other words it is not "religion" but it
is "relationship"!
Hands form a great part of personal relationships as they are a
major avenue for touching. Is this a reason why God uses such"body"
terminology in the Bible quite frequently as He wants to relate, "touch"
in understandable terminology to us?
Jerusalem in the form of a "Left Hand"! How is it
cleansed? Have
you ever been camping and had a dirty hand but there was no water to wash
with? How did you "clean" the hand? I have had the experience, so I
know the reality of the answer. A person in such a situation reaches
down and takes some dirt, soil, sand, etc. and uses it (maybe several
times) to rub on and off the hand (just as the sons and daughters of the
desert do) until satisfaction comes that the hand is as clean as
possible! The things of earth are used to clean the hand! The
things of heaven had to come to earth or be depicted on earth in order
for the "earth" to be "cleansed". The "things " of
earth had to
be used as the examples to relate to that which is higher!? Is this why
the author of the book of Hebrews depicts in chapter nine, that there is
something much better than "just bulls, goats and the ashes"? Is this
part of what the author of the book of Hebrews is depicting by relating
all of the "Temple" forms as the shadows, things of earth, when the full
reality are the things of Heaven? By understanding the "codes",
"terminologies" of earth can we then understand
the details of Heavens message better? Can understanding God's messages
of grace better, grow our commitment, love, etc?
When we looked at the Sheen, the more important part of the Temple is
on the right, on the top of the Mt. of Olives and the left corner of the
Hinnom Valley depicted hell. But when we look at the "hand" from the
north to south, the sites are then reversed as right and left! How does
the depiction of "hell" now fit with its location on the far right?
Could it be that if we "pass by" God then that is the result as depicted
in Hebrews chapter 6:1-6? What do I mean "pass by God"?
Years ago I came to a realization that the East/West orientation, of
the Tabernacle in the Wilderness and the Temple in Jerusalem, was saying
something! I went through the scriptures and found that to go "East" was
always a depiction of leaving God, such as Adam was expelled out of the
Garden, ---Eastward! Conversely, The "Wise Men" came from the East going
West. Going West depicts "coming to God". There are enough scriptures to
show this principal as a truth. Even Psalms 48:2 states "beautiful for
situation on the SIDES of the North"! The
SIDES of North are East and West! So if we come to
relationship with God but become bitter, or for other various reasons, we
may go right on, past God, choosing to not continue with Him! Again,
Hebrews 6:1-6.
How this East/West relationship is related to the crucifixion we will
begin to look at in the next letter.
