Dear brethren in the Lord-
Three years ago, we embarked on a bold venture. Our goal was to build
bridges and to penetrate the barriers that separate God's children.
>From the beginning we knew that it would be a challenge to overcome the
denominational proclivity to "protect turf". Our approach, however, is
a non-threatening one because CRMI is a non-proselytizing, teaching
ministry. We try to teach Christians to focus on our common beliefs and
not on our differences. We believe that the closer we get to
understanding the roots of our faith, the closer we will all come to
truly loving each other.
By sponsoring the Feast of Tabernacles at Ocean Shores, we have provided
a place for all Christians/Messianics to come together to celebrate,
learn and to encourage each other. Since our speakers do not come from
any single denomination or religious tradition we can all learn from a
variety of different perspectives.
We believe that Christians cannot begin to be "lights" in this present
darkness until we all learn to love and respect one another as our Lord
has instructed us.
Our goal is, not only to bring Christians together, but to bring
Christians and Messianic Jews together -- and ultimately to bring
Christians, Messianic Jews, and Orthodox/Conservative/Reformed Jews
together. Our purpose is not to proselytize or to convert (for this is
not our calling), but to rejoice together in our common heritage.
As more and more congregations begin to study the Hebrew Roots of
Christianity (through materials produced by Focus on the Family, and
books written by Marvin Wilson, Brad Young, Eddie Chumney, Ron Moseley,
John Garr, Richard Booker and others), they begin to see the Christian
significance of the Biblical Festivals.
It is through these festivals that we are able to bring people from
different congregations together to celebrate our common heritage and
our common destiny. For eight days in October (October 5-12, 1998) we
brought several Christians and Messianics from various congregations
together for a celebration of Sukkot (The Feast of Tabernacles) at Ocean
Shores, Washington. It was an awesome event, with speakers from around
the country, Messianic dancing (and instruction), singing praises and
rejoicing together. Judging from this year, Ocean Shores is going to be
the place to be next year. More joyful celebration, singing, pageantry,
and solid teaching........
We would like to invite you to celebrate Sukkot with us next year at
Ocean Shore (September 24 through October 2, 1999).
We also hope to have three days of very fun teaching into understanding
Hebrew from Dr. Danny Ben-Gigi.
As a plus, the Feast of Tabernacles at Ocean Shores is going to be
televised (C-Span style) to the local community. We hope to make the
video tapes and printed materials available to others who want to
organize similar feasts around the country.
If you know of anyone else who is organizing a small feast site, we
would be willing to share what we have learned with them -- so pass it
on. [No organizing group is too small. After all, CRMI is just four
people.] We want our joy and enthusiasm to spread beyond Ocean Shores
and we will help anyone who wants our help.
