Step #5a: Ha Lachma Anya

Ha Lachma Anya is the invitation to come and eat of the “bread of affliction”. The invitation is as follows:

“This is the bread of affliction which our forefathers ate in the land of Egypt. If any man is hungry, let him come and eat! If any man is in need, let him come and join in celebrating the Passover Festival, this year here, next year in Israel! This year slaves, next year free men!”
