YOM KIPPUR:
WEARING WHITE GARMENTS
It is an Orthodox Jewish custom of wearing white clothing on Yom Kippur which is meant to emulate the ministering angels. Some people wear a kittle which is a white robe worn over the clothing.
It is an Orthodox Jewish custom that the kittel should NOT be decorated with gold because gold recalls the sin of the golden calf and Yom Kippur is a day of divine forgivement from the God of Israel.
