STEP #3: THE BRIDE AND GROOM ARE BETROTHED

Betrothal is the first of the two stages of the Biblical marriage. During betrothal, you are legally married to but you do not physically dwell with your bride. Betrothal in Hebrew is known as Kiddushin.

Historically, Yeshua betrothed Himself to Israel at Mount Sinai. In Jeremiah / Yermiyahu 2:2 it is written:

Jeremiah 2:2 Go and cry in the ears of Jerusalem, saying, Thus says the Lord; I remember thee, the kindness of your youth, the love of your espousal [betrothal] when you went after me in the wilderness in a land that was not sown.
