THE DAY OF THE CORONATION
The recognition that the God of Israel is King over all the earth can be seen from the Jewish view of the creation of Adam in the Garden of Eden. According to Jewish tradition, it was late on the sixth day of creation when Adam was created. When Adam opened his eyes and saw the beautiful world around him, he knew at once that the God of Israel created him and the world.
The rabbis teach that Adam’s first words were: “YHVH is King forever and ever!” and the echo of his voice rang throughout the world.
“Now the whole world will know that I am King,” the God of Israel replied, and He was very pleased. This was the first Rosh HaShanah! The first New Year. It was the birthday of Man, and the Coronation Day of the King of Kings.
