Will everyone PLEASE take your calendars out and mark the first week in August 1998 off? We missed you this year at conference, and don't want you to miss it next year! You're part of the body of believers and we needed to see your smiling face, hear your testimony, and fellowship! Okay? You are wanted!!!! I can tell you right now that the conference will NOT be held at Sherwood Bible Church next year. WHY? Because it won't fit! It was full this year! Over 200 of us arrived! Last year we had about 75 people, but this year we were bulging at the seams! You will need to budget your money, too, this year, but just know that the people of Arkansas are most gracious and totally devoted to presenting a wonderful atmosphere covered daily by prayer. You must come!! So, let's see...where do I begin in this report?.... We loaded up Tuesday morning from Independence, KS at 7 am. Mary's minivan carried her and the Rabbi's family, and our car carried Eric Swim (one of the newsgroup members who has moved to the area recently), our 7 year old grandson, Thommy, and Tom and I. Little Rock is 8 hours away, so it was around 3 pm when we pulled up to the Budgetel motel in Little Rock. It is a wonderful place to stay! Breakfast is contental and provided, but the neat thing about the set up was, that they built this motel and Comfort Inn right in restaurant row, and with 2 large shopping centers around it! Wow! If we needed anything it was right there! The Shoney's, Tia's Tex-Mex, Steak and Shake, Carino's Italian, pizza and burger places really were within walking distance. That helped greatly with the fellowshiping, too. We just started at Tia's and worked our way down the road. Others brought food to eat in their rooms, too. The ladies of the church fixed wonderful all you can eat buffets each day for lunch that made us waddle back to the teaching area. I can't say enough about the wonderful homemade pies, cakes, and meals! They were beautifully arranged, and they have the cook books available for $2 for purchase! Wonderful orange chicken, too! Everything was kosher and we so appreciate their outstanding effort. Thank you volunteers of Sherwood Bible Church! We were blessed to spend our first night in the room of friends, Tom and Pat Spiller, of Alabama. Tom and I have known this wonderful pair for over 4 years. She is a faithful student and always hungry for more learning. She almost cried 4 years ago when she told me that she had to stop her studies of Jewish roots for 4 years while she was obedient to what the Lord had called her to do. She has studied to become a Jr. Doctor---or nurse practitioner. So she has only had time for an ocassional phone call, and was delighted that I introduced her to the newsgroup several months ago so she could start "warming up". She's finished her studies and only has her board to pass, and so they could meet us in Little Rock. What a wonderful time we had all week with them! Tom plays guitar, so joined the band at Sherwood Bible Church for wonderful praise and worship each night, too. But the most outlandish tale was that on the last morning, Tom had purchased a shofar from us. He woke Pat up to the sounds of the shofar! She jumped on him and said, "Tommy, you can't do it! These people in the other rooms may be sleeping." He chuckled and continued blowing...<grin> I hated to tell Pat, but our Lois couldn't afford to go to Little Rock so I needed a volunteer to work Brad Young's table, and would she consider helping? She almost dropped her teeth! But she was delighted to assist in any way. On Wednesday at HaY'Did's Volunteer Day, we really were blessed to have about 30 members show up! Talk about hugging and being hugged! It was old home week! On man had written me an email just before I left that said, "I am insanely jealous of not going to this conference in Little Rock", so I knew that many of you wanted to be there to put faces to names. One man called me the day before we left and wanted to drive up for just Wednesday from Ft. Worth. So repeat after me, "Next year in Little Rock!!!!" (or how about Tabernacles in Kansas???) We were blessed that Kenny, the sound man at AIHLS, audio taped our morning meeting. If you would like a copy of that tape please let us know. I am not setting a price on that tape. I feel that you need to pray about what HE would have you give. Some of you need to make an offering. IF you will pray, HE will direct. So, we'll leave that in HIS hands. We discussed many things during the day. First we introduced the leadership, of course, and we talked about different projects and ideas. Questions abounded about how people could help us, and an explanation about what we were trying to do was met with positive responses. One man asked why we didn't have "donor" on our volunteer questionaire. We were honest. We told everyone that we had been directed to ask for prayer, and that IF people would pray that HE would teach them about obedience in giving, and not coersion. YES! We do take donations! We just don't want to go against what HE has directed. Blessings are in store for those that will pray and obey. But you need to understand that there are other kinds of blessings rather than financial, too! So, will you pray? This is an all volunteer organization supporting the teaching associate ministries through volunteerism. YES! We need many things. These teachers are paying big bucks to write books for your benefit. You may think that they make money off the books, but that's NOT true! Eddie has barely broken even on the SEVEN FESTIVALS OF THE MESSIAH. The ones that make the money on books are the publishers! Our vision is to set up our own publishing company! Wouldn't it be wonderful if the teachers were provided with a company that isn't after the all mighty dollar? We have presses, yes. But they aren't the kind of presses that are needed for that. We don't have perfect binding, and fancy covers. When you lay down a book that has slick 4 color cover or one of my one color covers with a plastic spiral binder on it for half the price of the other, guess which one sells? The more expensive book! Go figure! We KNOW that we will have a publishing company. We want to provide a base salary to the printer so he can support his family. Then the ministries can bring their books and materials to him to print, and the cost will be much lower! Then we can pass on the blessing to the teacher instead of the publisher. If we can build a volunteer base for as many areas as necessary, then cost will stay down. Will you pray in agreement with us? We showed THAT THE WORLD MAY KNOW Wednesday to the group. We discussed the fact that most churches only have the videos and not the teacher's guide which expands each lesson from a 20 minute video experience to a possible 3 hour teaching time. The teacher's editions are $18 each. There are discussion questions, handouts and much more included. If you attend a church or congregation where they are looking for a Sunday night theme that is available for a reasonable price, this is it! The teacher's editions are $18 each. The transparencies are wonderful, too! The videos are available without the rest of the kit, but if you purchased the videos it would be like $35 for each video. Two videos make up the first packet, so that is $70 alone. The total set is $98. So why not plan to buy the sets? Believe me, after everyone got a chance to handle the sets, they were all budgeting them in to the coming months. I cannot express all the wonderful things that were said about this newsgroup from the members that were there on Wednesday. Thank you for your friendship across the miles! Eddie was there and too got to meet lots of people who knew of this work, and we were all blessed by the frequent hugs, and words of encouragement. Others came in later in the week, and I would say that about half of the audience was from the newsgroup, and the other half will be joining the newsgroup soon! What a blessing to get to meet you, so please come soon, okay? The teaching began on Thursday, and it was wonderful! Ron spoke on the Apocrapha and it was tremendous! So how will you know what was discussed? Order the tapes! They are $60 from AIHLS. So how will you know if you really need to hear these tapes? Well, here's a sample of one of the worksheets that as given out. If you can fill in the blanks, then you know all the answers. If not, then ORDER THE TAPES! Heresies of the Early Church by Dr. Ron Moseley 1. The original word for heresy was neither abusive nor complimentary and actually came from a Greek word haerens, meaning..... 2. It was not until the great controversies of the ___century that the word heresy took on the derogratory meaning that it has today. 3. Remember that there is much beyond this set of tape that we don't know, and that we are all to study to show ourselves approved. Why you believe something is usually only valid after YOU have searched the scriptures, and then asked HIM to confirm it by His Witness and Spirit. Man's traditions die hard, but I believe you are reading this because you are hungry to see HIM in all Truth and understanding, don't you? Well, I know that others will be writing to report on their experiences, so I won't write any more. We arrived home safely. Rabbi O was well received and came home excited about the program, the teachers and so forth. Now it is time to get his first meeting organized this Thursday to open The Biblical Institute or satellite school of AIHLS. We are excited about what the Lord is doing and give HIM all the glory! We're still working on Rabbi's house, too. We're about finished sheet rocking the 5 rooms, and soon will be papering and painting. Hopefully by the end of the month they will be tucked away in their new home. Rabbi didn't have room in the moving van to bring his bedroom suite, the living room furniture or his daughter's bunk beds, so we are believing that God will supply the needed furniture. Local people have donated food, labor, and so forth, too. Please pray in agreement that when they move in that HE will meet their needs in the house furnishing. Shalom, and we pray that you will also attend next year! Cheryle Holeman HaY'Did Learning Center PO BOX 804 Independence, KS 67301 http://www.haydid.org shalom@haydid.org 1-316-331-7712 ********************************************************************** To: heb_roots_chr@geocities.com From: Pat Spiller Subject: Jerusalem Conference '97 I just wanted to let everyone know what a good time we all had at the conference last week. If you were not able to attend "You missed it, you missed it, you missed it." My brain still hurts from the extensive input we received from the excellent speakers. The Arkansas Institute of Holy Land Studies just outdid themselves in the planning and implementation of 4 days of intensive study, great food, good facilities (they even provided shuttle service from the hotels). My husband and I met wonderful people, spent way too much money on resource materials (there was so much it was hard to choose just one), and our lives are enriched greatly. Please put the next conference on your calendar and plan to attend next year, it may just change your life. If you haven't met Eddie in person, may I relate to you that he is a very humble and magnificient person. If you think Cheryle from Haydid is a fireball on the net you should meet her in person. One personal experience I would like to relate is that when Shony Alex Braun began to play Jerusalem of Gold on the violin, I couldn't keep the tears back. The thought ran through my mind that I had never in my whole life heard anything as beautiful. There is no way that angels in heaven could sound better than this. The Holy Spirit let me know in a still small voice that the angels can not play this; they have no knowledge of what is behind this song. Well I'll go, I just wanted to let folks know what they missed. We sang, ate too much, stayed up too late, talked too much, bought too much and so we had a great time. Shalom. Pat ===================================================== From Eddie: ************** Would other members of the newsgroup who attended the '97 Jerusalem conference like to give their thoughts and comments also ??? ***********************************************************************
