To anyone who has read The Bible Code by Michael Drosnin.
There appear to be some mistranslations...on page 56 he
says the year 5756 is referenced...it looks like 2756 (bet vs. heh)

On page 96 he translates mem, vav, het, shin, bet as computer.
The Hebrew/English dictionary would render this as concrete,
tangible (or perhaps "real"), hence "The writing of God engraved
on the tablets is [concrete, tangible, real].

Also on page 64 he points out three references to Libya.
If one were to reverse these references and include the gimel
that precedes each one they would translate to border, frontier
or limits. It is difficult to tell if the words are meaningful or related.

Has anyone else noticed this or am I incorrect? I am just a
beginner in Hebrew and it would appear Drosnin's approach
to the intrepretation of the Torah Codes is a bit askew
(trying to make it a crystal ball) but it is interesting.

Ken

Divination not Revelation

A review of Michael Drosnin's book The Bible Code
by Stephen Yulish Ph.D.

Our consciousness is being assaulted this year by the wiles of the
Enemy. The best selling book The Bible Code by Michael Drosnin is
flooding the media with false knowledge and deception. What is most
disturbing is not the effect that it has on the public in general ,
but instead what deception it has caused in the Body of Yeshua
Hamashiach. I have seen Michael Drosnin not only on Oprah, CNN, and
other secular shows, but I have seen him on Christian programs as
well. Remember that Drosnin is an atheist. He believes that there are
so called secret codes in the Bible, but he believes that they were
put their by extraterrestrials. He says that he has not seen enough
proof for the existence of God. Drosnin wrote that when the codes were
found that everyone assumed that they must be from God, but he did
not. He wrote, " I had proof there was a code, but not proof there was
a God. If the Bible code came from an all powerful God, He would not
need to tell us the future. He could change it Himself." (pg.193).

God wants us to come to Him, but He gave us free will. Drosnin is a
journalist. He befriended the Israeli scientists who wrote the paper,
"Equidistant Letter Sequences in the Book of Genesis" which was
published in the journal, Statistical Science in 1994. These
scientists had shown how the names and birthdates of famous Jewish
Sages appeared in computer generated letter sequences within the Book
of Genesis, and that they were there not by chance. Drosnin did his
own computer program (which he never discusses), and found all kinds
of famous names, events, dates and even predictions of the future. Let
me state categorically that the Israeli scientists and the scientific
community in general have not supported Drosnin's findings. It is
instead the sensationalist American public that wants to hear when the
Battle of Armageddon will be fought, but refuses to hear
the Good News of our Savior. If I were Drosnin, and I really believed
that the battle of Armageddon was approaching, I would not be on talk
shows trying to sell my book, but instead I would be on my knees
seeking the Lord. "For what will a man be profited, if he gains the
whole world, and forfeits his own soul." (Matthew 16:26).

The great Rabbis in Israel have told the scientists not to try and predict
the future with the codes. It was divination, they said, and they told
the scientists to trust in the Lord.

"There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his
daughter pass though the fire;one who uses divination;one who practices
witchcraft or one who interprets omens or is a sorcerer; one who casts
a spell or a medium or a spirtitist; or one who calls up the dead. For
whoever does these things is detestable to the Lord" (Deuteronomy
18:10-12)

Drosnin is doing divination. He claims to have found
terrible things happening in the near future. Well, Nostradamus said
the same thing. Big deal. Satan knows that His time is short. The real
question is how can Drosnin continue to be an atheist? How can he say
that God has not given him enough evidence? Simon Greenleaf, Professor
of Law at Harvard once said of the New Testament that "you may choose
to say I do not believe it all, but you may not say that there is not
enough evidence."

Psalm 14:1 says that"the fool has said in his heart,
there is no God."

Believers need to stay away from such witchcraft. We
do not need to find hidden messages in the Bible. The Lord made
everything clear for us to see. We need to tell the Drosnins of the
world that the Bible itself is evidence for the existence of God and
that "all who call upon the name of the Lord will be delivered" from
the upcoming catastrophes (Joel 2:32, Romans 10:13).
