I believe that God is calling us back to His pure and undefiled Word that we may worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. We find ourselves being purged of Christian tradition and doctrines made by men. We long for the deeper meanings found in scripture. We want to understand everything He has for us as if we walking when He spoke to His prophets face to face. There are MANY like you, Gary. And God is urging us to study our Hebraic Roots and His Word in its original context. This is happening all over the world so spontaneously it cannot be anything but God's call. I agree with Eddie that you have found what you are looking for. I, too, would caution you that you do not need to become a Jew of any sort since you are already Abraham's seed by virtue of the Messiah. Also, I would further encourage you to drink in all you can that is good and scriptural. But I would also encourage you to test all things. That is, trading one set of man made traditions and doctrines (traditional Christianity) for another set (Jewish) will not bring you any closer to the Father. Pursue Him and His righteousness. All things will be added unto you. There is much rich tradition in both Christianity AND Judaism which point to Y'Shua and Yaweh; and these SHOULD be embraced. However, as you are painfully aware, neither Judaism nor Christianity are pure; if they were, they would not be separate, but truly one under the leadership of the Holy Spirit. So be enriched, take hold of one and not let go of the other and you will come forth with both ( a paraphrase of Ecclesiastes 7:18). Most importantly, be joyful that God has brought you here, as He has so many others, to teach you how to know Him and His ways in a closer walk. He has work for all of us and it is time to go forward in that knowledge. And (I say this laughing) the thing I enjoyed most about your post is that, in spite much knowledge, you feel as if you know nothing. May I say that this is usually a very good indication of a teachable person that the Lord will bring to GREAT knowledge. I think the more we know, the more we know we don't know anything. We've only scratched the surface, and it keeps getting deeper and broader and more overwhelming. But then, what would one expect from the things of God? I believe that this comes through learning all we can about our Jewish roots. I, too, am a non-Jew and have been a believer for 20 years. It wasn't until I began to learn about our Jewish Heritage that I found a peace that I haven't known since I was first saved. I would like to suggest one book to get you started, if you haven't read it already: Our Father Abraham by Marvin Wilson. Shalom, Pari ******************************************************************* To: heb_roots_chr@geocities.com Subject: Re: Guidance in learning about my Hebraic Roots From: Manuel Torres Hello Eddie and Everyone out there! I thought I contribute a little for the cause, hope it helps. Rom 2:29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God. Many are worried that they have to be a jew to really get to know God and to worship Him. But as we can see in the scripture above our maker let's us know what He is really looking for are those who are circumcised of the heart! These are spiritual Jews, inward jews. Abrahams promise were for all the nations or families of the Earth. Gen 12:3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. Gen 18:18 Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? God's promises are for all families on earth! Rom 2:10 But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: God loves us all, Jews, Gentiles, Blacks, Whites , Spanish,etc... John 4:23-24 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. Eccl 12:13-14 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. I love you all in the name of the God Most High! Praise be to Yeshua! ************************************************************************** From: Sharon E. Scruggs To: <heb_roots_chr@geocities.com> Subject: Re: Guidance in learning about my Hebraic Roots Having read many comments from people who were seeking to become Messianic Jews rather than Messianic Gentiles, I must say that I can relate to the longing. I was truly brought up from the womb as a Christian. Even so, I knew nothing about the Baptism of the Holy Spirit until I was in my early 30's...some 23 years ago. I had searched for "something more" for several years before I actually found it. Several months ago I experienced a direct revelation from God and my life has simply not been the same. And even prior to that point I was drawn repeatedly to Jewish literature...Chaim Potok's Book of Lights for example...and knew that Jesus (Yeshua) was beginning to draw me into an area of Christianity which, at that point, I could not comprehend. Again He gave me a searching spirit to find completion. "Seek and you will find". Although I've studied the Old Testament or Torah for some time, suddenly it was very real to me. I sense a fulfillment of being the tangible Bride of Christ and a chosen one by the Father. I continue to study, to pray without ceasing oftentimes coupled with fasting. I am learning the secrets of God, little-by-little...and I am entering levels of communication with Him otherwise unknown to me. I would encourage each of you to continue submitting to the Presence of God, to reading His Word, and studying as He leads you. I feel that many in the Body of Christ are coming into a maturity as never before. Blessings and peace to everyone, Sharon E.
