TÆwas the Night Before Sukkot
¬ Richard L. Perkins 1997

Many people believe that Jesus (Yeshua) was born on Sukkot.
Sukkot is the Feast of Tabernacles.

A succah is a booth or tabernacle. The plural of succah is sukkot.
God, in the scriptures, required all Jewish men in the land to appear
at the Temple three times a year: Passover, Pentecost (Shavuot), and
the Feast of Tabernacles Yosef is Joseph and Miriam is Mary in
Hebrew.

TÆwas the night before Sukkot and all through GodsÆ house,
Not a creature was stirring , not even a mouse.
Jerusalem was dark and the Temple (HaMikdash) was still,
While small oil lamps flickered on OlivetÆs hill.
The city was bursting with those far and near
Who came there to celebrate three times a year.
The populace soared to ten times its norm.
Which left no place for a child to be born
To Yosef, and Miriam astride of an ass,
By inns, and houses, and tents rode on past
To BethlehemÆs inn and were again turned away.
ôIÆm sorry,ö they said. ôThereÆs just no place to stay,
Except in our succah, but youÆll have to share
With our cattle and sheep which will wander in there.
The evening was warm and no clouds were in sight.
Yosef said, ôWeÆll be honored to stay there the night.ö
So lifting her down from the wee donkeyÆs back
Yosef settled Miriam next to a hay-holding rack.
The child, soon born, gave the shepherds such joy
As they gazed on Messiah (Mashiach), a fine healthy boy.
The angels had told them that he had been born
And they could go worship him that very morn.
While angels were singing a star shown above
Marking the birthplace of GodÆs gift of love.
He gave without measure a gift from His heart,
On the cross He did his, now you do your part.
It isnÆt critical, but try to remember,
Our Lord wasnÆt born in the month of December.
