From: "HaY'Did" <shalom@haydid.org> Organization: HaY'Did Learning Center To: heb_roots_chr@geocities.com Subject: Dwight Pryor Newsletter Dear Friends and Fellow Saints, The Lord be with you and bless you in this new year. May He satisfy you with long life and show you the fullness of His great salvation in Yeshua! (Psalm 91. 1-2, 9-11) The New Year Jeanette and I spent New Year's Day with some friends who live in a small community near Pensacola, Florida. They were close friends with Corrie Ten Boom, who stayed in their home on many occassions. They carry on the Ten Boom family tradition on New Year's Eve. They gather friends and family around a festive meal; and among other activities, each person testifies to one special thing the Lord has done for them in the past year, and speaks of their hopes in the Lord for the coming year. Before midnight, Psalm 90 is read, and after midnight, with the emerging new year, Psalm 91 is recited. This psalm was extraordinarily significant for Corrie's life. The next day, we attended a leadership meeting at the Brownsville Assembly of God in Pensacola. The speaker was Dr. Michael Brown, Dean of thier Bible college. He said he was impressed of the Lord to speak on the Hebrew text of Psalm 91! His emphasis was on the necessity of disciplined prayer and intimacy with God for all true saints of the Most High in the coming year. It was a compelling message that resonated fully with the book I was reading at the moment: Bishop J. C. Ryle's classic 19th century work on "Holiness". My heart was convicted and my mind yearning for greater intimacy with the Holy God. In prophetic as well as personal ways, I believe Psalm 91 will be a teme text for many Christians in l998. How about you? Where will you live in '98? The only secure place will be under the overshadowing presence of the Almighty. He will be a shelter from the storms that assail us; in His dwelling alone will be found the righteousness, peace and joy, the fullness of life, we seek. Brownsville Revival Much is being written and said about the "Brownsville Revival" in Pensacola. Jeanette and I attended two of the evening services, and in many ways we were touched and impressed by what we saw and heard. The fruit of deep repentance and authentic revival was evident. More tahn 100,000 people have experienced the convicting power of the Holy Spirit in conversion or renewal since the revival began. There is a kind of John-the-Baptist anointing on the assembly ---with the way clearly prepared for the Lamb of God to take away the sin of all who repent and call upon His name. Teenagers and young adults, especially, are being transformed. At one of the services, several young men and women were baptized. Their amazing tetimonies spoke of deliverance from things like heroine addiction, alcoholism and drug abuse, from hatred, anger and nihilism, from prostitution and sexual abuse. The seriousness of sin and the redemptive power of God's forgiveness is preached strongly and witnessed abundantly in the lives of those changed. But a commensurate emphasis is given to radically holy living, persevering prayer and the disciplined study of God's word. Some of the words that came to mind: fervency, expectancy, simplicity and focus. One of the images that struck me: a few pews in front of me, I noticed a young man in a white t-shirt, with his tanned arm uplifted in praise to the God of Israel. His hand and arm were completely covered in tattoos. But strapped to his wrist was a red bracelet with the raised white letters, "W. W. J. D." (What Would Jesus Do?) Sabbatical As we reported in the last Update, we were directed by our Board to take a one-month sabbatical. In hind-sight the leading of the Holy Spirit in that direction was clear. It was a rare and, at first, somewhat of a strange experience to be relieved of all our duties. But we quickly adjusted, and the retreat proved pleasant, restful and conducive to reflection. To get away from Dayton, and our many responsibilities here, and to get to a place of warmth and sunshine, we drove to Marco Island, Florida at the tip of the Gulf Coast, where we stayed in the condo of some friends. We had a wonderfully panoramic view of the ocean and enjoyed the striking sunsets from our eighth-floor balcony. We read, listened to music, watched old movies (especially Cary Grant, Jeanettes' favorite!), worked jigsaw puzzles, went sight seeing and walked the beach collecting sea shells! It was a time for physical relaxation and emotional decom pression. It also became an occasion for relection and healthy introspection. We both came back encouraged and, each I think, with a sense of the Spirit's shifting some priorities in our life and ministry. I also had intimations of potentials and pssibilities that I had not felt in a long time. Yesterday, quite independently, I received a call from an intercessor who heard in prayer that this would be a year of "closure" and "great release" for us. This bears witness to what I am sensing also. It is premature to speculate on these matters or speak of them publicly at present. Suffice to say that we have a renewed sense of God's care for us and His leading. We in turn are re-commiting to His lordship and the furtherance of His kingdom. Give us a passion, Lord, for your Kingdom! Schedule We have returned to a busy time of year for our ministry. There is much to be done. There are always so many other subjects waiting to be addressed. But in the last months of '97, I was impressed to return to a study of Psalm 23 ---a text I treated in a single tape years ago. This time we ended up with three teaching sessions. ($15 plus shipping - credit cards accepted.) For me it was great fun to take the liberty and time to re-examine this beloved passage in a detail and perspective not done before. The result is a new teaching series which we are calling "The Shepherd of Isarel." I hope you will send for the set. Listen with me as we journey to the midbar (desert/wilderness) to learn some precious lessons about the care and character of our God, the Shepherd over our souls. Notes and Letters Your response to our year-end letter overwhelmed us with your love and kindness. We especially enjoyed reading the many notes and letters you wrote. You are a diverse and remarkable group of people. We count it an honor to call you Friends (Haverim) and look forward to being part of your world in the coming year ahead. With the Lord's help we will do our best to supply you with ongoing quality and informed isights into the Holy Spirit. May the Lord be honored in all that we do together. And in the days ahead may you be blessed with all the riches of heaven. Gospel Research Foundation Dr. Brad Young ********** Randy Felton of Potter's Clay Ministry and Dr. Doug Wheeler of Mended Wings Ministry presented their first one day seminar in OKC, OK on Feb. 7, 1998 at the Fifth Season Hotel. Tom and Cheryle (me) Holeman attended the seminar and were very blessed by the time of fellowship and teaching. We stayed at the home of Joan and Jerry Womack of Gearworks (http://www.haydid.org/gearworks.htm) Prayer Network and had a wonderful time of getting to know these prayer warriors. Joan and Jerry joined us at the Saturday conference and we certainly can recommend that others plan on joining us at the next one. (The two ministries are hoping to offer one day seminars several times during the year, Folks!) When we got there we were so glad to see some old and new friends of HaY'Did. Two ladies that had started out with us many years ago, were a wonderful surprise when we got to the hotel! They have attended many messianic conferences and prophesy conferences all across the USA over the years, and they were glad to see us in attendance. We visited for a while and then they said, "Cheryle, out of all the things we have seen and experienced from one end of the country to the other, do you know what we haven't heard?" I asked them what? Their answer was very interesting..."We've not heard the Blood taught. This concerns us." I just shook my head and tried to remember if I had ever heard it taught lately... As the seminar began, I was sitting at the back of the room and ...have you ever experienced the hair on the back of your neck stand up when something is about to happen? Well, it stood up just as the Glory Cloud rolled into the meeting room! I needed windshield wipers to clear my glasses! The power of God was there! Guess what! Blood was also taught on that day! Hmmmmmmm One man later told me that my book SABBATH: THE LIGHT IS MESSIAH had changed his life. For two years he and his family had enjoyed the spirit of the sabbath and he wanted to thank me for that little book. It's nice to hear that from time to time. The five teachings on Saturday were: Randy Felton: Why We Don't Understand the Bible, "Anti-Semitism and the Church (A History), and "The Washing of Water With the Word". Dr. Doug Wheeler taught on "Face to Face" and "The Law of the Tzit-Tzit". Now you have to understand, we are country simple folks in Kansas and Oklahoma and Texas, okay? What I like about our kind of teaching is the homeiness of the teaching in plain language without all the hype of big words, and complicated rabbit trails. So, the two teachers arrived in blue jeans (and jackets) and started teaching. I have never seen two men who prayed as much over their students in one day as these men did. It was very uplifting. Tapes? The tapes are available for $20 + $3 shipping from Potter's Clay Ministries at pottersclay@mail.icnet.net (listed on their website at http://ww.haydid.org/potter.htm) and from Mended Wings (listed on their website at http://www.haydid.org/wings.htm) The lessons also need to be transcribed to share in books, articles and on the website, so if you are interested in volunteering to help with this kind of projects, we have lots of tapes waiting for fingers to type them. Just contact us at http://www.haydid.org or shalom@haydid.org Remember that this is an all volunteer association...honest! Someone wrote me a while back and accused us of lieing about that! Nope! We really DON'T receive a salary and rarely compensation for the work that the Lord has asked us to do. Our website is unlike others, in that its suppose to be 5 megs of space, right? Well, the internet providers are friends of ours and we are over 28 megs right now! Its a REAL Learning Center, okay? Everything that you see there, is for you to copy off FREE and use as you need with your study group or homegroup. We know that we know that we know, HE is coming back soon, and there is much to teach, okay? So we ask you to come to the well and study! No strings attached! All we ask is that you include HaY'Did in your prayer list, okay? And IF HE speaks to your heart to do something, then do it! That's all! Just be obedient to HIM, okay? I will tell you that the FREE magazine offer is going to be discontinued on February 14, 1998. We have mailed out over 2000 copies and the postage has been over $2000. Since everyone who comes to our website can copy off so much, we feel that the magazine will not be sent out free any longer. Only the membership of the Learning Center will receive this magazine on a quarterly basis. If you would like to become a member, then please visit our website for that information. You may also order materials from our catalog on the website at any time. We have only 2 copies of PAUL THE JEWISH THEOLOGIAN by Dr. Brad Young left at this time. We do have several copies of JESUS THE JEWISH THEOLOGIAN left. Both books need to be on your bookshelves. We do accept credit cards and ship overseas.
