From: "HaY'Did" <shalom@haydid.org> Organization: HaY'Did Learning Center To: heb_roots_chr@geocities.com Subject: HaY'Did Update I just returned last night from the Christian Believer's United conference in North Carolina. It was tremendous! 280 believers came together to hear Dr. Marvin Wilson, Dwight Pryor, Dr. John Garr, Dr. Doug Wheeler, Gordon Tessler, and Dee Baxter teach. It truly was a conference that changed and touched lives. If I had to choose a topic that summarizes the teachings, I would say, "Intimacy with God through Hebraic Eyes" would cover the subject. Don't worry. Tapes are available! Go to http://www.haydid.org/cbu.htm for tape ordering information. You need to order them today. There are 11 tapes and the cost (including postage is $55). Well worth the money and they do take credit cards. I took my oldest, best friend, and supporter to the conference. I took my mother. She had never been to any of our conferences, so this was an experience! She started making a list of who she wants to take next year! She loved the facility of Ridgecrest and can hardly wait to return! I am working on a photo album of the conference that will be posted on our website soon, so keep checking back. It really was a life changing weekend, and you must plan on joining us next year, okay? We arrived on Thursday at the airport, and were graciously picked up by "Rooters" Robert and Michele Coker from Mississippi. Bob and Michele found the newsgroup in November, and we had talked several times over the phone. We felt so blessed to have them at our side through out the conference. They hope to get some conferences together in New Orleans area, and are planning on coming to other conferences that will be held this summer. I will share those dates and locations with you further on in this writing, but for now I will tell you about the conference. (Keep the coffee on, Mama! Cheryle's telling a story again! I'll be there once I get this thang printed off so we can share it, okay?) On the first night of the conference, we hooked up with Michele Bartlett from Raleigh. Michele wrote the newsgroup last year about attending this conference and did such a wonderful job of reporting, that I have asked her to write a report again that she will be sharing later with the newsgroup, okay? Anyway, Michele walked in with challah bread, grape juice, candles and matches to our table. She set it up, and the sabbath came in! Whosh! There we sat enjoying the fellowship as if we had known each other for years! It was so comfortable! I asked Michele if she had done this at last year's conference, and she assured me that she didn't know any of how to do these things! She informed me that our teachings had changed her life, and now she couldn't thank us enough for sharing. Its always neat to find another "Piece of the Puzzle" and meet you Rooters! You are all so special and such a wonderful gift from the Lord! I pinch myself to know each and every one of you! So, then we strolled across the campus of Ridgecrest to the auditorium together. I have to tell you that a large meeting for us is around 200 people. Locally we are use to about 30, so once a year we are always amazed when we open a door, and find a lot of people thinking as we do! Amazing! So, when we opened the door we were greeted by this large group of people all WANTING to be together! They were from all denominations! We found Methodist, Baptist, Sacred Name People, Charismatics, Lutherans,....everyone laying down their differences and just being together! The differences fell away! We were ONE in Messiah! I have to commend Christian Believers United and Jim Jackson for a wonderful well oiled organization. It truly was well organized and you could see a servant's heart on everyone's sleeve! "How can I help you?" was on everyone's lips! Such a breath of fresh air! It was wonderful to see everyone pitching in and working as a team...no one was rude or anything! (You just have to come next time, okay? You know that you need to be there, right? So start saving up the coke cans or something, okay?) We started the service off with having communion together. What? Communion? Yes! Everyone one of us were thrilled to think that we were a body of believers from every walk of life, laying down our differences and picking up our matzah and grape juice together! We all hungered to do it in HIS NAME, and it was soooo right! The cup of redemption was shared by all, and we were ONE! Dr. Marvin Wilson was first up and we all basked in the glow of the evenings' teaching. He shared much and I will let Michele or others share about the teachings, okay? But it was wonderful... That night afterwards we settled mom in her room, and went up to Dr. Doug Wheeler's room. We called up Bob and Michele Coker and had a lovely evening of meeting new people and making new friends. Saturday, John Garr of the Restoration Foundation was first up. I missed his time, as it was my time to go pick up our rental car, so when I walked back in, everyone was shouting and rejoicing and telling me that I should have been there! (I will have to listen to that tape myself to play catch up, okay? But even my mom told me that she wants that tape first to play for her friends. Must have been good, huh?) You will be hearing more about John and the Restoration Foundation in the months ahead, too. John has just published a book that we will also be carrying that you will want to get soon. I will probably have some copies by the end of May or early June. On Saturday they also ran some one hour classes. You could choose one of four to attend. I went to Dr. Doug's class where he shared much about the Hebrew language and how to take a Greek word back into Hebrew using a method that he has developed. He gave several examples of how this can effect what you are reading in the New Testament, and everyone was taking notes fast and furious. He has a course that teaches this method and I know that he will be conducting some 15 hour seminars soon in different locations around the country where you can attend. Keep your eyes on the newsgroup for those announcements. After lunch, Dr. Doug spoke before the entire assembly on "Face to Face Relationship". Man! Everyone needed that discussion! Too often we get overload with head knowledge and forget that what God wants is our hearts! His presentation showed us that God desires a face to face with each and everyone of us! Believe me, this can be life changing when you hear it, and after Doug was finished Jim Jackson issued an invitation right from the podium for Joyce and Doug to return next year to teach again. Laura Tessler led the praise and worship all weekend since Jonathan Settel had major health problems and could not attend. Laura did an excellent job of leading, and we greatly appreciated her love of the Lord in taking on that job at the last minute. She and the other ladies were always before the Lord worshiping and leading us into His Presence. Truly a good job by all. Please be praying for Jonathan and his family. The doctor asked him to take a 30 day sabatial to save his voice. That means that Jonathan's family has no income for 30 days, and we need to lift them up in prayer. He was doing better, but I am sure that God would bless him with your prayers if you wish to share some in his direction. Saturday evening after Praise and Worship, Dwight Pryor came forth. Now you have to understand that Dwight is one of my favorites. I am part of his monthly Havarim, and never miss a lesson, okay? Well, Dwight gave a word from the Lord, and it was for me....and probably there were others that were present that it was for them too. Now I know that some of you Rooters, may not understand what I am about to write, but as you are growing in your relationship with the Lord, you soon discover that HE wants to come to you in a special way every now and again. Now if you have never had one of these encounters with HIM, then just ask HIM to make HIMSELF known to you, okay? HE will! Believe me, HE WILL! So, once the word was given I knew in my heart that it was for me, so I honored HIM and closed my eyes. Yes! He was there! Right there! I could feel HIS Presence! From that point on, I don't really remember what Dwight said. I was with HIM, and HE and I were busy for the next two hours. My mom was right there pushing Kleenex into my hands as tears ran down my face over and over. It is truly an awesome experience when it happens. I debated on whether to even write this to you all, but I have learned that some of you need to understand that there is much more to this walk than you have experienced so far. Maybe your church doesn't have these kind of services, but believe me, once you have experienced the Presence of God like this, you are never the same. I won't share with you what My Lord and Savior shared with me during this time. It is very intimate and private. I can only encourage you to speak to HIM and ask HIM to come to you, too, and to converse with HIM about your own relationship with HIM. He desires you --- Face to Face --- eyeball to eyeball, nose to nose, lip to lip, and hip to hip...HE desires you to have a walk that is intimate and life changing. Only through submitting to HIM in this way can you ever hope to know HIM. It was a like a great housecleaning in the Spirit. He moped the very soul of my Spirt with His presence. I used the Kleenex to wipe away the tears that flowed. It was a great "kiss of God." I am never going to be able to explain to a person who has never had this kind of experience. Ever read the Song of Songs? It was that kind of intimacy with HIM. I may have thought that I needed to be at that conference to network or to hear good teaching, but HE knew that I needed HIM! (Thanks, Gang, for the prayers for me! HE answered them!) So, it ended up with prayer lines that evening! Wow! It was powerful. On Sunday Marvin taught on Wisdom writings, and the intimacy of those writings. After the conference was over I told Mom that I wanted to use a different bathroom. I went in and as we were leaving, I told mom that I hoped the weather would not be so stormy for the flight home to Kansas. I then heard a voice say, "Kansas? Where in Kansas are you from?" I said, "Independence, Kansas." "Independence? Do you know Cheryle Holeman?" I said, "I am Cheryle." She said, "I am in the newsgroup and came to this conference to meet you!" I had missed someone! I felt soooo bad! They could have been fellowshiping with us! So from now on, if you come to a conference and can't find me (or one of us!) then go to the speakers and ask them to point us out. They usually know us, and will gladly help you find us. ***************************** Conference Dates for your Calendar! Dear Rooters, John Garr of the Restoration Foundation has just been released. It is titled, "Restoring Our Lost Legacy: Presenting Vivid Images of Christianity's Heritage in the Hebrew Faith". "We've been robbed!" These words of a Methodist bishop in Brazil, an Anglican churchleader in India, and a Pentecostal overseer in Africa express the sentiments of thousands of Christians when they discover throught he challenging teaching of Dr. John Garr the extent to which they have been deprived of the Hebrew heritage of their Christian faith. For the past nineteen centuries, millions of believers have been denied their biblical legacy, the riches of the Hebrew foundations of their faith. Christian Judaeophobia, anti-Judaism, and anti-Semitism have conspired to rob them of the treasures of their inheritance. This volume presents selected essays in which Dr. John Garr urges the church to recover its Hebrew heritage, its connection with the Jewish matrix which produced it. These pages call Christians back to the Bible, to the roots of faith that enrich lives and equipm believers to achieve greater spiritual maturity through a more comprehensive understanding of Jesus, our Jewish Lord. If you're seeking restoration, this book is a must read! (Great gift item, too!) $15 each from HaY'Did Learning Center. Shalom, Cheryle Holeman HaY'Did Learning Center P. O.
