Subject: Eddie doing a Hebraic Roots Seminar in Houston, TX
Dear Mishpachah (family):
As wonderful as the
newsgroup is, the information only
comes in bits and pieces over a long period of time. But, how would
you like to be fed a steady diet of rich meat all in one weekend?
Well, now you have an opportunity to do so !!!
I will be doing an
in-depth Hebraic Roots study seminar
in Houston, TX the weekend of Sept 11-13, 1998. Wouldn't it be great
if I could meet all of the newsgroup family in person? Well, start making
plans to come to this seminar !!! And ... there is no conference
registration fee for the seminar !
I will be
teaching on Friday night, Sept 11, from 6PM to
9PM. Then three sessions on Saturday and two (or three) sessions on
Sunday. Come ready to feast because the table is being prepared!
I will be
teaching on the Biblical Festivals, the
purpose of God's Torah and the non-Jewish believer's relationship to
it, the restoration of the two houses of Israel and the prophetic
significance of the current Middle East peace process. The seminar
will be well worth your time and effort to come. I will be the only
speaker for the weekend. Come EXPECTING to be BLESSED !!!!
Also, if there
are other Pastor's, Messianic Rabbi's or leaders
of fellowships who would like for me to come to your area to do a
Hebraic roots seminar, please write to me so that I can discuss
further plans with you.
So, plan on
making the drive to Houston or begin
thinking about buying your plane tickets to come to this seminar.
For all the
members of the newsgroup who desire to go to
this seminar, please send me a reply note so that I can give you
further information and so I know how many smiling faces I can expect
to meet!
Shalom
in Messiah,
Eddie

HERALD MINISTRY PRAYER POINTERS 8/98 (16 July 1998)
"How long, O Lord, must I cry for help, but You do not listen? Or cry
out to You "Violence!" but You do not see? Why do You make me look
at injustice? Why do You tolerate wrong? Destruction and violence
are before me; there is strife and conflict abounds, Therefore the
law is paralysed, and justice never prevails. The wicked hem in the
righteous, so that justice is perverted." (Hab.1:2-4)
Does Habakkuk's opening prayer remind you of your own cry for our
nation? After Habakkuk boldly and confidently took his complaints
about violence and corruption and the fact that the wicked seem to
be winning, directly to God, he decides to take up his position as
watchman in an attitude of patient waiting and watching for God's
response.
In 2:2 God answers with the same answer that He would give
us: "For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the
end and will not prove false. Though it lingers, wait for it; it
will certainly come and will not delay". There is a direct parallel
between the sins addressed in chapter 2 and the sins of our nation,
namely self-reliance (trust in self) (v.4); trust in wealth & riches
(v.9-13) and trust in own creations (man-made
structures/organisations/institutions, etc.) (v.18).
The chapter closes with the re-assurance that "the Lord is in His holy
temple; let all the earth be silent before Him". Then Habakkuk praises
God (and this should be our prayer as well!) "I stand in awe of your
deeds O Lord. Renew them in our day, in our time make them known,
in wrath remember mercy." God is in control and we must wait
patiently for Him to act (3:16). Our feelings should not be controlled by
events around us, but by faith in God's ability to strengthen us!
In Hab.2:4b God says that "the righteous will live by faith"! When
nothing makes sense and troubles seem more than what is bearable,
focus on God. He gives us surefooted confidence through difficult
times. "The Lord is my strength, my personal bravery and my
invincible army! He makes my feet like hind's feet and will make
me walk (not stand in terror, but walk) and make spiritual progress
upon my high places of trouble, suffering or responsibility!"
(Ampl.)
We need to live in the strength of His Spirit, confident in
His ultimate victory over evil! One of the greatest promises is that
of God's presence in our lives. In Judges 6:16 the Lord answered
Gideon " surely I will be with you" and in Matt.28 Jesus assured
His disciples with the same promise " I am with you always, even
to the very end of the age!". Ask the Lord to reveal to you the
parallels between the situation in Habakkuk and our nation as well
as between Gideon (Judges 6,7) and the farmers and please send word to
us!
PLEASE PRAY FOR THE PERSECUTED CHURCH WORLDWIDE: That believers will
stand firm in their faith (1 Peter 5:8-10); that they will not be
fearful but trust in God (Rev.2:10); that they will not take revenge,
but leave that completely with God (Rom.12:17-21); that they will be
enabled to rejoice, even in suffering (1 Peter 4:12-13); that they
will forgive those who persecute them (Luke 23:34; Col.3:13); that
they will persevere under tribulation (Heb.10:32-39);that they will
keep their eyes on Jesus, persevere, and not grow weary or lose
heart (Heb.12:1-3); that they will rely on the Lord=92s strength and
not on their own (2 Cor.1:8-9).

Subject: Salt Lake City in late August
To Whom It May Concern:
My step-brother in Salt Lake City is getting married (if I have the
date right) on Sunday, August 23. I don't know if, coming on the
heels of the UMJC conference and a vacation, I can afford a motel
for 1-3 nights. I may be there at least for Saturday night, August
22. I may need a place to stay on Friday night, August 21 and
Sunday night, August 23 also. Does anyone know of a Messianic
Jewish congregation, fellowship, chavurah, Bible study, etc. in or
near Salt Lake City? There is nothing listed in the UMJC or
Messianic Times directories. Does anyone have a relative and/or
friend in or near Salt Lake City who would let someone they don't
know (my son may be with me also) stay with them for 1-3 nights? I
am willing to compensate them for food - or I would provide my own.
If anyone can help me in this matter, I would really appreciate
it. Having a place to stay - as opposed to having to stay in a motel
- may make the difference as to whether or NOT I can afford to
attend my brother's wedding.
Shalom,

P.S. - If you cannot help, but know of someone who might be able to,
please feel free to forward this e-mail to them.
