Subject: Update from HaY'Did Learning Center

Dear Mishpahah (family):

As some of you know Potter's Clay Ministries out of OKC, OK is led by
one of our teachers, Randy Felton. Last year he took a group of
volunteers to Juarez, Mexico on a one week missions trip. We posted a
website on the trip at: http://www.haydid.org/casas.htm if you would
like to see a photo album about the trip. My husband went along last
year and so did Marshall and Susanne Martz (see
http://www.haydid.org/marshall.htm) that also teach Jewish roots.

This year Potter's Clay is going again. Sometimes we just need to
fellowship together and do a good deed for someone less fortunate. If
you are a home school family, the chance to take your older teenagers
on a one week trip to an underprivledged area with a covering
organization that you can trust, isn't always available. I would
highly recommend this trip to teenagers and their fathers...a real
bonding experience that will be an eye opener for all.

Here's some important facts:
Casas por Cristo understands the importance of personal attention to
your short term mission team. We know the impact it will have on your
church or group:

85% of all career missionaries first became interested in missions
through a short term experience.
40% of all youth remain involved in missions after a short-term
missions trip, and
25% of all adults remain involved in missions after a short-term
missions trip.

Here's a little bit about Casas por Cristos program:
The excellence and quality of our program received national
recognition when Casas por Cristo was selected from among 700
organizations as one of 12 non-profit agencies to be featured the
first year of the nationally broadcast Public Broadcasting System
(PBS) television series, "The Visionaries." For more information look
at the website. ******************** Back to Cheryle: This is not
really an evangelist outreach or even a teaching trip for Jewish roots
people. This will be a low cost missions trip and some of you may want
a chance to fellowship and do a good deed. Here's the details from
Randy Felton:

Well, I now have some details about Mexico. The dates are set for
November 11 - 19th. There is room for 12 people to go and the cost is
$150.00 per person. We will leave from OKC on the morning of the 11th
and drive to El Paso, TX. We will overnight on the way down and
arrive at about noon on the 12th then we will cross over into Juarez,
Mexico. We will be hosted by a local church where we will sleep and
eat. We will furnish and cook our own meals and provide our own
bedding, etc. Our project will be to build a 11' X 22' two room house
for a poor family. All materials will be on the job site and we will
spend 3-4 days doing actual construction and a dedication to the
family before leaving. On our drive back we will overnight in a motel
and get a real shower before coming home. The $150.00 covers the
expenses of the trip (and the motel). Occasional spending money will
be needed for souvineers or ?? Children, 12 and over, accompanied by
a parent will be allowed to participate. The cost is the same. We
will drive from OKC in a 15 passenger provided by Our Lord's Community
Church. This will be a joint mission trip between OLCC and Potter's
Clay Ministries. OLCC is providing the actual construction cost and
the van, Potter's Clay Ministries will host the trip and take care of
the expenses and arrangements. This is not an openly evangelistic
trip but there will be opportunity for interaction with the people in
the neighborhood if desired. We will be staying in a local church and
will have to take cots, blow up mattresses, sleeping bags, etc. I
will rent a trailer to pull behind the van to carry our luggage and
the tools. Simple hand tools will be needed ( tool belt, hammer,
utility knife, gloves, etc.) I can furnish a full list to anyone
interested.

Thanks for your interest. Just imagine, a full week of hard work and
abuse for only $150.00, such a deal! (IF you can't go this time but
are interested in going in the future contact Casas and maybe they can
plug you into another group going, or help you coordinate your church
going down. One week worth of good deeds can change many lives.)

Shalom!
