KOSOVO: POINTS TO PONDER

=B7 Boston University academic Eugene Narrett (FREEMANLIST, Mar 23):

"[The Clinton administration is] playing a bellicose game that =
turns
history on its ear, shreds the principle of sovereignty that is the
basis of all social order and [aligns] itself with Islamic terrorists.

"Many of the rebels of the so-called Kosovo Liberation Army are
Albanians living on both sides of the now porous border. Some are
Muslims from other countries including Saudi Arabia, Yemen,
Afghanistan and Iran.

"Their purposes are not peaceful. While smuggling arms across the
border in late 1998, they killed 165 Serbian policemen, wounding 395.
Would this be tolerated in Texas ...?"

=B7 US commentator Charles Krauthammer (INSIDE WASHINGTON, Mar 20):

"You have to ask yourself, aren't there atrocities happening today
much worse in Sierra Leone, in Congo, in Rwanda, in Sudan for the
last 15 years? A week ago, there was a battle between Ethiopia and
Eritrea which nobody has ever heard of where five times as many
people were killed in one day as died in Kosovo.

"The only difference I can see between Serbia and Africa is that
these are white people who are being killed in Europe. I do not
understand how you can make a case purely on the grounds of
preventing atrocity when all these others are happening in the world,
and be consistent in any way."

=B7 Bill Lind, director of the Free Congress Foundation's Center =
for
Cultura l Conservatism (CNS, Mar 19):

"I wonder how many American Christians have thought about the fact
that their defense dollars now go to attacking other Christians on
behalf of Islam?"

=B7 Israeli journalist Steve Rodan (WORLD TRIBUNE.COM, Mar 24):

"[According to European security and diplomatic sources] Kosovo has
become the latest and most significant arena for radical Islamic
states and groups that seek to widen their influence in Europe.

"Nobody argues that Islamic elements fomented the conflicts in the
Balkans. But they say Iran, Saudi Arabia and some of their terrorist
beneficiaries have exploited the fighting to establish a sphere of
influence that spans from Greece to the Austrian border."

=B7 The London-based Islamist group Al Muhajiroun (PRESS RELEASE, Mar
25):

"We declare that we will not rest until Kosova is returned to the
Muslims and they achieve their independence as a Muslim nation. We
declare that we will not stop the Jihad against the Serbian or
Israeli occupiers no matter what the UN say or do."

=B7 Anjem Choudary, secretary-general of the Society of Muslim =
Lawyers
(quoted in Al Muhajiroun's PRESS RELEASE, Mar 25):

"Muslims everywhere are obliged to fight against the Serbs who are
fighting against Muslims in the Balkans physically, financially and
verbally until all Muslim land is liberated."

=B7 Israeli counter-terrorism expert Ely Karmon (CNS, Mar 26):

"Kosovo is important to Islamic terror groups, because they see it =
as
a battlefield between Muslims and Christians."

=B7 The Middle East Christian Committee (PRESS RELEASE, Mar 24):

"We certainly criticize the authoritarian regime in Belgrade, and =
hope
to see the conflict in Kosovo solved by diplomatic means ? However,
we do not understand our decision makers who seem to be only in favor
of Muslim rights and always opposed to Christian's rights in that =
region."

=B7 Coptic American Union (PRESS RELEASE, Mar 25):

"We are sick and tired of watching our foreign policy being =
dictated
by the Islamist lobby in Washington DC ? Our community [in Egypt] is
being ethnic cleansed by a government which is receiving U.S. foreign =
aid."

=B7 The World Maronite Union, Beirut (PRESS RELEASE, Mar 24):

"We Maronite Catholic[s] feel that the Islamist-inspired attack
against Orthodox Serbia is an aggression against all Middle East
Christianity."

=B7 South Sudan Movement spokesman Dominic Mohammed (PRESS RELEASE, =
Mar
24):

"? we never saw the U.S. fighter bombers in the skies over Khartoum =
or
southern Sudan. Are white Muslims [in Kosovo] more valuable than Black =
Christians?"

=B7 State Department spokesman James Rubin (DEPT OF STATE briefing, Mar
24):

"The critics have been unable to answer the question of why we =
would
be better off to allow the slaughter to spread, the humanitarian
catastrophe to grow, instability to spread throughout Europe in
places that are of concern to the United States.

"In their opposition to the use of air power, they have offered no
alternative other than appeasement of [Yugoslav] President
Milosevic's policies, which is something unacceptable to
this administration."

Subject: Kosovo crisis

Hey everyone,

This is an interesting letter from Jim Bramlett

Shalom,

Paul

Dear friends:

>From the Bible we know that demonic principalities are assigned to
certain geographic areas. With this century's two world wars
beginning in or centering in Europe, there must be major demonic
stronghold there, and especially around the Balkins, which played a
key role in both those wars. The demon power there must be strong,
blood-thirsty and violent. WORLD WAR I. My World Almanac says that one
of the catalysts for WW I was Serbia's expansionist goals. The pretext
for the whole war was when a Serbian assassinated Austria Archduke
Franz Ferdinand on June 28, 1914. WORLD WAR. The Balkans and nearby
area experienced early action in WW II. The German-Italian campaigns
conquered the Balkans by April 1941. Hitler annexed nearby Austria in
March 1938. WORLD WAR III. For reasons of geopolitics and due to the
demon stronghold, the Balkans may also help precipitate WW III. Some
believe the present NATO involvement in this complex civil war, where
it is difficult to tell the good guys from the bad guys, is the
beginning. The side our fearless President has labeled the "good guys"
is Kosovo, which a London news report today says is "a Marxist-led
force funded by dubious sources, including drug money." There may be
no good guy in this, but we may have tragically chosen the wrong side
(or any side), aligning ourselves with Ishmael and Esau, the trend in
American and Western foreign policy due to petro-dollar influence
(read that: "money"). In God's eyes, aligning ourselves with Israel's
enemies may be our nation's downfall. Another news report today says,
"European defense and diplomatic representatives regard the Kosovo
rebellion as a success of radical Islamic states, such as Iran, and
groups such as that of Osama Bin Laden. As they see it, Kosovo has
become the latest and most significant arena for radical Islamic
states and groups that seek to widen their influence in Europe. Nobody
argues that Islamic elements fomented the conflicts in the Balkans.
But they say Iran, Saudi Arabia and some of their terrorist
beneficiaries have exploited the fighting to establish a sphere of
influence that spans from Greece to the Austrian border. Islamic
groups as far away as Pakistan have called for support of the fighters
in Kosovo." The war cloud over Europe for this whole century adds
clarity to evangelist Perry Stone's prophetic dream when he was 18
years old. He saw four horses, and on the leg of one of them he saw an
emblem. He said he knew that if he ever saw that emblem again, it
would signify the end of the age. Just this year, in January 1999, on
C-SPAN, he saw that emblem again for the very first time since his
dream 21 years earlier. It was the emblem of the EURO, the currency of
the European Union! Jesus used the phrase "nation against nation" in
referring to end-time signs. I have read where the expression is
actually a Hebrew idiom for world war, a 20th century phenomenon.
DARKNESS COMING. Last night I had a fascinating telephone conversation
with author/Bible scholar Bonnie Gaunt of Michigan, and we were
discussing this in the context of the many other signs. She reminded
me of the solar eclipse due on August 11, 1999. In view of all that is
happening I was struck when she informed me that the eclipse begins in
Nova Scotia and becomes total over Europe. Darkness, via a total
eclipse, is literally coming to Europe. Astronomical phenomena are
"for signs" (Genesis 1:14), and have frequently been linked to major
world events (e.g. Christ's birth and crucifixion). Oddly, she said
the next day, August 12, is 1 Elul on the Hebrew calendar, beginning
the 40 days of repentance, ending on Yom Kippur, ten days after Rosh
Hashanah, the Feast of Trumpets (September 11), which many believe
will be of prophetic significance in 1999, marking exactly 6,000 years
since Adam's creation and the end of the sixth millennial day, and
also, according to good scholarship, the exact 2,000th birthday of our
Lord Jesus Christ. Also oddly, Bonnie told me that there will be
another solar eclipse in the Middle East, where the sun will be
totally darkened, SEVEN YEARS years later in March 2006. Bonnie is a
leading world expert on the Bible codes and has been interviewed on
three major television networks. She has found both 1999 and 2006
encoded in key Bible prophecy verses. Needless to say, all this has my
attention. But last night the Lord reminded me that when I hear of
"wars and rumors of wars... See that you are not troubled, for all
these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet" (Matthew
24:5). *******

Clarification from Jim: Do not confuse the "Balkans"
(in southern Europe, site of present conflict), with the "Baltic" area
(in northern Europe). All of Europe has been a hotbed of violence and
world war (nations against nations) during this century. War in the
Balkans may not have been the very earliest action in WW II, but it
was one of the first. German-Italian campaigns conquered the Balkans
by April 1941. Hitler annexed nearby Austria in March 1938. *********

Jim Bramlett's biography: James (Jim) Bramlett is assistant to the
founder and president of one of the world's largest evangelical
ministries, but which he feels he should keep the name confidential
due to occasional references to nations where the ministry's staff
might be placed in jeopardy. Bramlett first entered full-time
Christian service in 1974, responding to God's call and retiring early
as a Lt. Colonel and regular officer in the United States Air Force
after a 20-year career. Much prayer led him to join the Christian
Broadcasting Network (CBN) in that year where he soon directed and
helped pioneer the large international network of telephone counseling
centers. He was asked to form CBN's first personnel department. In
1979 he was promoted to Vice President, responsible for both
counseling and human resources functions until led to resign in 1983.
Bramlett has written three Christian books, two on vocational guidance
published by Zondervan Publishing House and one on the great truths of
the Bible. He conceived and was executive producer for a
television/film documentary exposing the teaching of secular humanism
in the public school systems. This documentary played a major role
around 1980-82 in opening the eyes of the public to what was happening
in the schools. The film met with incredible success, aired on
national television twice and was described as the top-selling
Christian film of its type ever produced. He has also researched,
lectured and written on the subject of America's Christian and
biblical heritage. He has produced and hosted his own live, talk and
call-in radio programs. While in the Air Force, he taught management
courses for the University of Maryland. He was a winner in the 1992
Amy Writing Awards Program sponsored by The Amy Foundation with a
newspaper article on America's moral decline and turning from its
biblical roots. Jim has an B.A. degree from The University of Miami
(Fla.) and an M.B.A. from The Ohio State University. He is also a
graduate of the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. He is married
and has three grown sons.

HOSTILE MEDIA AGAINST SERBIA
by Elyakim Ha'etzni
Arutz Sheva Israel National Radio
Broadcast on March 29, 1999 / Nisan 12, 5759

In This Article:
1. We're in the Same Boat
2. Even if They All Die
3. The Serbs Fought the Nazis
4. Renewing the Cold War
5. Aid to Both Sides

WE'RE IN THE SAME BOAT
It is certainly unnecessary to explain to the listeners of Arutz-7 all
about "hostile media." But did you ever realize that there is another
group suffering from similarly hostile media? The Serbs, for example?

Without condoning the terrible war crimes no doubt committed by the
Serbs, we and they basically find ourselves in the same boat. The
world press under-states each of our respective sides, while it
embellishes the Arab-Moslem case, and sweeps under the carpet its
faults, crimes, and inherent dangers. Both the Serbs and the Israelis
are given to American-European pressure on behalf of the Moslems. We
were forced in Wye Plantation to give over portions of our homeland to
the Arabs, and the Serbs are being forced right now to hand over a
sovereign region of theirs, Kosovo, to the Moslem Albanians. The
Serbs, in fact, call Kosovo their "Jerusalem" - would it be that we
would learn from them how to stand fast in conviction and
determination and strength when the time comes for us to fight for our
Jerusalem.

[Ed. note: Arutz-7 commentator Rabbi Avraham Wasserman noted that the
Kotzker Rebbe said that we should learn strong steadfastness even from
Pharaoh, who did not give in for the duration of nine terrible
plagues.]

EVEN IF THEY ALL DIE
The Serbs lost their holy Kosovo to the Turks 600 years ago, and have
dreamt and sung about it ever since then. They have woven their
national identity around Kosovo. We have pined for Zion and Jerusalem
more than three times as long, and with it all, tell me if there is
one politician amongst us who would say about Jerusalem what Serbian
Deputy Prime Minister Draskovitch said about Kosovo. Draskovitch, it
should be noted, does not agree with his Prime Minister, but he and
the entire Serbian nation are united around the Kosovo issue.
Draskovitch said: "Our faith was born there, as was our language, our
nationhood, our pride. It is incumbent upon us to defend Kosovo even
if we all die." An American reporter asked him if he does not want
his hungry country to become a part of the West and to share in its
wealth. He answered, "Not if the price is Kosovo."

THE SERBS FOUGHT THE NAZIS
The hostile press does not tell us who the Serbs really are. From
amongst all the Yugoslavian peoples, they bore the main brunt of the
fight against the Nazis in World War II. The Croatians established a
Nazi state, and murdered hundreds of thousands of Serbs and tens of
thousands of Jews. Jews and Serbs are buried together in the
Yasenovatz destruction camp. >From within Muslim Bosnia, with
inciteful encouragement by the Mufti of Jerusalem, a Jew-killing SS
Division arose. The Serbs kept dozens of German divisions occupied in
battle, and caused them great losses. Serbia was the only country in
Europe that threw off the German conquest on its own, paying a
terrible price along the way: 1,700,000 dead - 11% of its total
population. The partisan army numbered a quarter of a million,
including many Jews, and it saved thousands of Jews. How could
Clinton possibly think that a people who went through all this would
surrender to an air attack of the type of which Saddam Hussein made a
mockery?

The hostile media hide from the public the fact that "ethnic
purifications" have taken place all over Yugoslavia. The Croatians
expelled 200,000 Serbs from the Krajna district. From Kosovo itself,
the Moslems - beginning the moment they received autonomy there in
1974 - pushed out a half-million Serbs, while 400,000 Albanians
spilled over the border, turning the Serbs into a 10% minority in
their own homeland.

What are the Serbs fighting about? Milosevich agreed to restore the
autonomy to the Moslems. He merely refused the NATO demand to bring
in 30,000 foreign troops to his country. What self-respecting country
would have accepted such a dictate? Clinton had great difficulty
explaining why he attacked a sovereign country simply because of an
internal dispute within its own borders. The situation there is not
at all the same as Iraq's attempt to wipe out a foreign country. If
the present attack is justified, why didn't NATO intervene in China
against the oppression of the Tibetans? What about when Sudan
slaughtered 2.5 million Christian blacks in Khartoum? Why doesn't
NATO force its member state Turkey to give to the Kurds what it
demands for the Kosovo Albanians? These are merely a few of the many
similar examples all over the globe.

RENEWING THE COLD WAR
In truth, the attack has nothing to do with ethics. Only pure
political pro-Arab interests are at stake - oil. The U.S. intervened
in Afghanistan on behalf of the Moslem extremists - who are now
engaged in blowing up American embassies and using their
American-supplied Stingers to endanger aviation all over the world.
Even worse, the Americans, all for the sake of Kosovo, are themselves
endangering American-Russian relations and the precious gift that
Gorbachev gave the world - the lifting of the Iron Curtain. Russia
and the Serbs are bound by a historic alliance. When NATO armed the
Croatians and the Bosnians against the Serbs, and even bombed the
Serbs from the air, Russia renewed its diplomatic and military
relations with Iran, Iraq, and Syria - and we, Israel, are the victims
of the renewal of the Cold War in the Middle East. This is a direct
result of the defective American policy in Yugoslavia.

American diplomatic failures have left their blood-stained marks of
destruction all over the world: in Vietnam, Iran, Iraq, Beirut,
Somalia, Panama, Bosnia, Arafat's Palestine, and now Kosovo. This new
method of forcing a country to give up parts of its territory under
the threat of international attack is now being tested. *Are we next
in line?*

Israel's media are acting as if this has nothing to do with us. The
contrary appears to be true: just as the press here is against us and
in favor of Arafat, it is also in favor of the Moslems in Yugoslavia.
At the behest of Yossi Sarid of Meretz, our left-wing government of a
few years ago sent humanitarian aid to the Bosnians, of all people,
and even absorbed Bosnian refugees. We, the listeners of Arutz-7, are
in favor of the Jews! We will be alert and attentive to what is
happening in Kosovo, as it may be a general rehearsal for what could
happen here if we don't give the Palestinian terrorists a state with
Jerusalem as its capital.

AID TO BOTH SIDES
But not only our own self-interest is at play here. The gratefulness
that we have to the Serbs for their actions in World War II also
demands that we listen to both sides, and to send aid also to the
Serbian victims. Sarid is again insisting that the Foreign Ministry
send aid only to the Moslems. I call upon the listeners to demand that
Foreign Minister Sharon (fax: (972-2) 530-3506; sar@mofa.gov.il) put
an end to the one-sided leftist aid only to the Moslems, and send aid
also to the Serbs. A public committee should arise to send aid to the
Serbs, as well.

Happy holiday of freedom.

[Ed. note: It was reported last night that Foreign Minister Ariel
Sharon has decided not to express support for the NATO attack or
explicitly condemn Serbia. Sharon will suffice with a blanket
condemnation of all "violence against innocents" and urge the renewal
of negotiations. Israel announced that it would send humanitarian
assistance to Moslem Albanian refugees from Kosovo.]
