HaY'Did Learning Center UPDATE June 22, 1999
Shalom! In the Mighty Name of Yeshua/Jesus the Christ! We bring you
greetings from Kansas and prayers that you are all well and enjoying
this wonderful spring weather. Here in Kansas we are 11 inches above
normal...all we can say is that it is VERY green. At the same time, we
are aware that Israel is having one of its worst droughts and we
continue to pray that the LORD will pass the blessing of rain on to
Israel instead of Kansas.

6) Catalog updated on the website...6/15/99 ***********
1) Dr. John Garr of Restoration
Foundation has just published THE HEM OF HIS GARMENT. This book puts
everything that you ever wanted to know about the prayer shawl and
fringes (tzit-tzit) under one cover! An outstanding small book that
presents these vivid images of a rich biblical- Hebraic tradition: *A
Mark of Remembrance, *A Symbol of Authority, *Your People-My People,
*God is With You, *Healing Wings, *The Mantel Passes. Restoration
Foundation will be glad to make the book available to you, or you may
contact us here at HaY'Did for your copy of the book. $10 plus
postage. If you have a friend of pastor that might be interested, then
why not order 2 copies? Its just excellent! Everything you ever
wanted to know about the prayer shawl under one cover!
2) Women Restored! Conference in Omaha was a great success! Women
traveled from Colorado, Iowa, and Nebraska to be with us at our most
recent Women Restored! Conference. Testimony after testimony was
brought to us about how these women's lives were changed during the
weekend. One woman told me that she had been searching for years for
materials to study these things, and was invited by her daughter to
attend a women's retreat weekend in Omaha, never dreaming that she
would walk into a wealth of information and resources! No books even
came home with me at all! They were purchased and more were even
ordered to be sent later! It was a wonderful weekend of teaching.
Teachings were presented that were life changing: Dr. John Garr was
there and did a wonderful presentation on Friday night on the Role of
Women in the church, Jimmilea Berryhill presented A study of women in
the First Century, Judith Fain presented a powerful presentation on
Borders in our lives as women of God, and Sue Mackrill presented much
about prayer and her school in Omaha. Workshops were conducted by
Robin Sampson, Jimmilea's daughter, and Sue's daughter, and me.
I presented Woman of Valor: Is There More to Proverbs 31 to the Story?
It was well received, and many purchased the tape and workbook to
listen to it at their leisure. In this teaching and tape set, I show
you how to study a word out in Hebrew. One person called me the next
week and told me that he had heard many tapes by different teachers
through the years, and they chased too many rabbits for his taste. But
when he listened to Woman of Valor (twice) he said that the only word
to describe it was ORGANIZED. I left no doubt in the students' mind on
how I arrived at my conclusion! (There really is more to the story
than we are given in the English translation. Did you know that the
Woman of Valor is indented for emphasis AND that it is an acrostic?
Very powerful story within a story.) I will be presenting this lesson
in Dallas and Oklahoma City this fall at some conferences, and I hope
you will be there to hear it.
3) Jimmilea Berryhill has the manuscript finally ready to sell on her
soon to be published book WOMEN RESTORED! This book started out as her
master's thesis on the topic of Role of Women from Arkansas Institute
of Holy Land Studies several years ago and she's been putting the
finishing touches on the book. I have a copy in front of me, and would
encourage you to get a copy soon if you are interested in the latest
information. Topics include: *Research, *Cultural Influence on
Theology, *Perspectives of Women in First Century Palestine, *Hebrew
Culture of the First Century, *Women-Niddah, *Interruption, *Other
Women in the Gospels, Apostolic Church and Women, *Passages Concerning
Women in the Epistles, and of course, an outstanding bibliography.
(Question: You do know what to do with bibliographies, don't you?
Answer: BUY THE BOOKS YOURSELF OR GO TO YOUR PUBLIC LIBRARY TO SEE IF
THEY CAN GET THEM FOR YOU FREE!) Jimmilea has done her homework! An
eye-opener of a book!
4) Family Restored! Tulsa Conference August 5-7, 1999 UPDATE:
What fun! This conference is proving to be one of the most fun to put
together! I am getting ready to do a mailout of brochures on this
conference and some others to our special friends and members, and I
would hope that many of you will want to attend. Family Restored!
Conferences are something that we have all waited for! Imagine! Three
days and nights of teaching, an emphasis on relationships,
celebration and fellowship! has all the information posted for you to
check out-even the registration form and a map to the conference
location. We'll start off the conference with a Get Acquainted
Luncheon with all of the leadership scattered around the room where
you can meet and talk with your favorite teachers. The first speaker
up will be Dr. John Garr speaking on BLESSING AND BEING BLESSED
HEBRAICALLY (appropriate title for Tulsa, don't you think?)
I am making one addition to Thursday's line up of speakers, too. I
just received word that Dr. Smith, an OKC, OK neurologist has agreed
to speak at our conference on The Power of Praise and Worship as
Reflected Neurologically in the Human Body. Long title, huh? Dr. Smith
is a friend of Randy Felton's. I have heard Dr. Smith's presentation
on what happens neurologically and chemically in the human body, and
it is an awesome eye opener! If you have ever encountered anyone who
doesn't understand why they should stand up during praise and worship,
or why lift their hands, or look up instead of down, then this is the
teaching that you will want to hear! Powerful message! We'll push back
the workshops in the afternoon to make sure that everyone hears this
word! Dance lessons will follow with the other workshops.
And then we roll into Ann Thrasher's Palm Sunday warmup presentation
on the Entry into Jerusalem. That evening (Thursday) we'll all be
there in bible time costume (and hopefully scenery) ready to show you
how to do a first century passover. We've got the "sop" recipe and
believe me, you won't want to miss this! Dancing and celebration is
the order of the day!
On Friday, we'll have more teaching and workshops on dancing and
family relationships. Go on over to the website today to see what an
abundance of topics will be presented. Friday night will be the
presentation of the Sabbath with the big sabbath meal, more teaching,
dancing and celebration.
Saturday will start out with Dr. Brad Young's teaching on the Jewish
Background of the Lord's Prayer. He is currently revising his old book
on this topic, and hopefully by the August conference it will be back
in print! I plan on being first in line for the new edition! His
earlier book was one of the first books that I ever read, and it
opened my eyes to the need for learning Hebrew. Saturday's fellowship
will be oh so sweet as we all draw near to the throne during the day,
and then close out the conference with Havdalah. Yummy! Communion will
be so sweet! Please drop me a note to tell me you are coming soon!
****
The Jerusalem Conference in Little Rock will find many of us there the
following week after Tulsa. Every year this outstanding scholastic
conference is conducted by Dr. Ron Moseley and Sherwood Bible Church.
Dr. Marvin Wilson, Dr. Brad Young, Dwight Pryor, and Dr. Ron Moseley
will present three days of teaching that will be on the cutting edge
of scholarship. has all the details about the topics and the
registration form. Note: Pre-Registration cut off date is July 15,
1999. At door registration will be $150. So get your reservations made
now! Top scholarship conference of the year in my opinion.
HaY'Did will again sponsor HaY'Did Volunteer Day in Little Rock on
Wednesday August 11. On this day we get together with other teaching
ministries to share with people (free) the vision of HaY'Did in its
support of the teachers. We usually go out for lunch together and it's
a wonderful day of fellowship and sharing in an informal setting. Do
contact me at if you plan on attending for more details. This is the
time for informality and questions!

We're also working on the next Women Restored! Conference. A
tentative site and date is in the works and hopefully by mid-July we
will be ready to announce it. Let's just say that early November is
what time frame we are looking at, so hold on to your vacation dates
if you are at all interested in attending one this year. This is a
unique experience! The teaching and information that will be shared
about the biblical role of women is not available out there. We do
still have teaching audio tape sets with workbooks available from
Branson for $65 (includes shipping in the USA). Believe me, we've
heard from people that ordered the tapes that they were amazed at the
quality of teaching information contained in the workbook even!
Bibliographies inside can direct your studies, too. So if you can't
come, then do pray about ordering tapes for your study group.
******
5) WHY COME TO A CONFERENCE? I can't tell you how many
times people have finally given in and come to a conference from this
newsgroup. After months of reading about these, they finally show up
and realize that they are NOT alone! That there are others out there
that have been given the same heart to study these things! They hear
testimonies and touch something in the spirit that they had never
thought possible. They realize that there is a "massage in the spirit"
that continues after they go home, that makes them more aware of the
Kingdom Business that we are all about. Its easier to focus on the
Kingdom, in other words, because they have experienced it. I took a
dear friend of 20 years to her first Jewish Roots conference in Omaha.
She's a Lutheran and had never been outside of her own church
functions. Over the past 20 years, she and I have stayed in close
touch. She's one of those friends that you know when she is going to
call, and you're standing by the phone waiting for it to ring. You
know what I mean? She's heard me talk for years now about what I was
doing, but had lived in North Carolina and now Omaha. We'd seen each
other about 5 years ago in North Carolina, and so now we were together
again in Omaha. She was convinced that God brought Women Restored! to
Omaha just for her! We could hardly wait for her husband to leave on
Thursday night! What fun two fifty year old women can have without
husbands OR kids! These experiences are rare and far between, if you
know what I mean! Anyway, we had lots of late night conversations and
even sneaked out Saturday evening late to find a bakery in downtown
Omaha at 11 pm to sit at the outdoor café until it closed! Then stayed
up until 3 am just visiting and enjoying the fellowship. I called her
Monday night after we returned home and asked her how her first 48
hours back at work and home had seemed. She said that she now
understood why it seemed that all I wanted to talk about was the
Kingdom of God. She'd touched it and experienced it for herself. It
was hard to keep her mind on work instead of wanting to get right into
the books and studies that she had brought home. She'd called her
father, sister and brother to tell them about her weekend. They all
had a good laugh when they discovered that all of them had been
looking for this kind of information in their own way for years, but
hadn't found a source! Now she would share the books and hopefully
they would see us at another conference in the future. She said that
everything had taken on a new perspective! Instead of just going along
in her everyday life, she now sees the importance of God's plan for
her individual life, and knows that she will touch it again.
Over and over again at these conferences, we hear from people that
they have met people, heard testimonies, and touched a whole new world
of learning than they could ever imagine. They all were hungry for
something outside of their usual mode. Now they understood this wooing
by the Spirit better, and will be able to relay it to others as they
grow in their walk. "When the student is ready, the teachers will
appear." So true.... (My friend also discovered email after the
conference, and ordered 4 more copies of my Sabbath: The Light is
Messiah book! She finally read it and UNDERSTOOD it! She had a few
friends she wanted to share it with now!) Conferences can be that
extra touch that a person has needed to keep them moving in the things
of God.

6) Catalog updated on our website. Whew! Its up! After weeks of
revision, I think that the website is complete now on what books we
are carrying currently. I remember back when I first started my
studies, you couldn't find a book to read on these topics. I found
myself wandering through our public library and voraciously reading
everything that I could find from the Jewish Encyclopedia and the
Catholic Encyclopedias. I felt like an explorer as I dug through these
valuable resource tools. Today, we have excellent books available on a
variety of topics, and everyday I hear of a new one in the works. Dr.
Brad Young has two in the works by the end of the year! And a major
book ANCIENT ISRAEL by Roland deVaux is now back in print! It was only
available in England for years, and then it was $58! WOW! Now it is
back in print and available from us for $30 plus shipping. This book
is a valuable resource that everyone of you needs to have. It covers
all the different institutions of Israeli society from the nomadic
tribes to religion to military institutions. Remember that in the
nation of Israel there was no separation of secular and religious-they
existed together intertwined as one. This excellent book is a major
handbook to your studies. We're in the process of getting our printed
catalog out to our membership soon. Sorry. We do not send out free
catalogs. Our "freebie" is our extensive teaching website, and you
will find our catalog there. If you would like to join HaY'Did please
visit our website today to read about it. You're always welcome, too!

Well, its back to the committee meetings and desk jockey type of
things that have to be done before a conference. Hope to hear that all
of you will be coming to a conference soon! We love seeing your
smiling faces, and putting it with your email addresses! Don't be a
stranger! Drop us a line from time to time, and let us know how God is
working in your lives! Shalom in Messiah Jesus/Yeshua,
