The Biblical Calendar

In Exodus (Shemot) 12:1-2, the God of Israel declared that Aviv / Nisan will be the beginning of months. This calendar is known as the religious calendar. The new year in the civil calendar is the seventh month of Tishrei . Prior to Exodus 12, the dates in the Bible follow the civil calendar. From Exodus 12 to Revelation 22 follow the religious calendar.

The names used today for the Biblical months of the calendar are Babylonian.
