Step #11a: Messianic Application
The afikomen represents Yeshua the Messiah. Some interpret the word afikomen to mean, “dessert”. However, the work afikomen means “he came” (Greek aorist tense). The middle piece of matzah which was broken (representing the death of Yeshua on the tree) and hidden (representing that Yeshua would not return at His second coming for 2,000 years) is now redeemed (those who would accept that He is the Messiah). The promise given to those who accept Yeshua as the Messiah is the indwelling Holy Spirit who is the ‘promise of the father’.
Luke 24:49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
