THE DAY OF JUDGMENT

There are twelve months in the year and there are twelve tribes of Israel. Every month of the Biblical year has it representative tribe. The month of Tishrei is the month of the tribe of Dan.

The rabbis teach that this has symbolic significance because of the words spoken by Rachel, the wife of Jacob, after Dan was born to Rachel’s maid, Bilhah.

Genesis 30:6 And Rachel said, God has judged me (dannani) and has also heard my voice, and has given me a son: therefore she called his name Dan.
