THE DAY OF REMEMBRANCE

Rosh HaShanah is known as Yom HaZikkaron, the Day of Remembrance. In Leviticus / Vayikra 23:24, the God of Israel specified that Rosh HaShanah / Yom Teruah is to be a memorial (zikkaron) as it is written:

Leviticus 23:24 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, you shall have a Sabbath, a memorial (Zikkaron) of blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation.
